We're loaded at the X and in the slot. Deep unit with speed and tough covers will do damage with Nixon's play designs. My one concern is TE .. disturbingly little information about someone (Tremble?) stepping up.We have a lot of weapons that will have to be accounted for. I am not a footballologist, but it seems that teams will have to be aware of Cook's speed and have help deep, that should open other guys up. This offense can be dangerous because every guy is a threat, from Willis at RB to all of the receivers. I can't wait to see how Nixon calls plays this year.

I won't be surprised if that happens at all. Gill's on the way up.I think Gill establishes himself as our most productive receiver by midway through the season.
I believe Tremble took a few reps on short yardage packages. He’s been bothered by leg spasms all camp.I thought there was a thread of Tremble playing some line backer? But then the roster came out and people noticed he was still at the TE spot.
if Gill becomes this year's Meeks and Cook becomes dynamic a couple times a game thats a good thing.
Looking forward to watching Cook draw two defensive backs to him on a deep route and we throw a little curl to James who blazes to the house. We're loaded at the X and in the slot. This is where Nixon's genius comes in. It'll be hard for Defenses to load the box and still account for a Z possession guy (JRS), speed at the X (Gill, Eman, Hatcher, Hornsby, etc), Cook in the slot, and Willis, Nixon or James catching the ball in space. JRS is big enough to play a TE-light kind of role, or there's Villari/Tremble. We definitely have the horses to pass to open up the run; be great if we can balance that with an OL that can run to open up the pass!I thought there was a thread of Tremble playing some line backer? Is Cook actually projecting to start, or is the board just getting excited?
I think he's definitely starting, probably at the Slot-WR.Is Cook actually projecting to start, or is the board just getting excited?
Is Cook's game really a slot receiver game though?I think he's definitely starting, probably at the Slot-WR.
I'm guessing Gill and Hatcher split some time at the X-WR and probably are listed as Or. I'm guessing Gill gets a little more of the share.
Cook starts at the Slot-WR.
JRS starts at the Z-WR. Hornsby will be second string at the Z-WR
E. Ross is first up for any 4 WR formations and probably next up at the slot and could get some snaps at the X as well. I don't think E. Ross is top 3 but can get some snaps at any of the WR positions. His size and skill fits pretty much at any of the spots. He'll still play a lot.
I think he fits really well at both slot or the X and we have the X covered well with other very solid players. He can get some deep routes from the slot. I think our slot player will get the most catches as well so I think that is a plus for him being there. Is Cook's game really a slot receiver game though?
Seems like if he's a burner but physical guy that's more suited to the outside.
I agree, proper English makes your posts easier to read and understand. Sometimes I understand what you're trying to say, sometimes I don't.I do before I post . if you have no insight or anything nice to say in here or not discussing football u don’t have to say anything to me .
Our tight ends might be losing a lot of reps to larger wide receiver formations. If you have to choose between Cook, Ross, JRS, Gill or even Hornsby or Hatcher or one of our tight ends to catch a pass, who are you choosing?Last year week 1 we had 1 WR that we hoped could house the ball and OG we thought would be a mismatch. Many were not high on Pena or any others
This year we know Cook can. JRS showed us when healthy he could, and his interview hinted he was only healthy for about 2 quarters all year. Gill showed some glimpses and Ross/Hornsby/Hatcher might all at times show talent. Also, the slot kid who broke his leg is already far more advanced than anyone thought Pena would be in year 4 when he broke out.
How big will the TE drop off be and will we get solid QB play to hit guys when open, it may help the TE that they wont be shading coverage that way.
Honestly Cook might be less consistent than Meeks was last year but much more explosive
There has been little info regarding Trembles development as it doesn't seem like he's played all that much lately. This muscle spasm reason has me confused. I can't wrap my head around sitting out weeks for muscle spasms. I can't imagine he got enough camp snaps at LB to play there. Guessing he is still at TE. Size wise he isn't huge but 222 lbs is about what OG was his Sophomore season when he exploded in the TE-slot role all be it under a different coaching staff. We're loaded at the X and in the slot. Deep unit with speed and tough covers will do damage with Nixon's play designs. My one concern is TE .. disturbingly little information about someone (Tremble?) stepping up.
Big difference in how teams defend a 4WR set and a 3WR 1 TE set. One reason OG was effective was teams honoring the TE set with LBs and he was a big mismatchOur tight ends might be losing a lot of reps to larger wide receiver formations. Especially if the play is calling for a pass route instead of blocking, a four wideout formation might make more sense than 3 and a tight end. We have no OG this season.
Say what? You serious bro'Is Cook actually projecting to start, or is the board just getting excited?

Cook, Gill, JRS.I am serious.
We get camp darlings all the time and then never see them on the field.
I'm not saying that's Cook, but I am asking - is he actually at the top of the depth chart? Has he jumped all of the other WRs to be the #1 guy. Because that's the chatter on the message board, but is that real?
You should just bask in the glory of your Angeli call. You're going to get major board reputation points deductions heading down this path on Cook.Is Cook actually projecting to start, or is the board just getting excited?
'all the time'? under Fran Brown and Jeff Nixon? What WR from last year underperformed their 'camp buzz'?I am serious.
