its a problem at many schools.. Several upstate colleges have had this same issue the last few weeks.

Taj was apparently supposed to be there but took the wrong route.

At this point its hard for me to get mad at kids for partying. If covid happened two years ago I can't imagine my buddies and I would have been cool with drinking in our suite every night for 4 months. The current college experience definitely isn't worth the price tag that comes with it.

If schools weren't bringing back students for that room and board $$$ you wouldn't have kids throwing parties. And if this was football players I'm sure the conditioning portion of their winter workouts are going to be tons of fun.

UMass is treating the students on campus like jail.
They can’t go to other dorms or have anyone else in their rooms.
Plus you can’t even go for walks without reporting it.

These campuses are getting a little crazy.

This would definitely be a time for college freshmen/sophomores to live at home and transfer to the local, inexpensive community college, if it’s feasible.

They're also threatening to send back packages or revoke your right to receive packages if you get more than one delivered in a week. Cancelling sports for two weeks was just the beginning of the bad decisions.

I'm embarrassed by UMass right now. I better not get an email asking for a donation anytime soon. Lol

I’m 21, if I haven’t hung out with my friends in momtjs they can too. I work overnight in a warehouse moving tons of frozen food. These kids that have school can’t do school work and hang inside? Treat them like the adults they are

If students should only sit in their rooms and have minimal social interaction then they shouldn't be on campus in the first place. It's a money grab.

Putting thousands of college students together on campus and telling them not to party is a joke of a plan. Negligent at best.

And you can't call them kids in one sentence and adults in the next. Most 18-20 year olds aren't adults and that's 3/4 of the college population. Hell, I'm 23 and barely an adult haha

I'd love to say that I would have been responsible if there was a pandemic during my 6 or 7 undergraduate years at SU.

But who am I kidding. I would have been part of the problem. And I'm only slighly more mature a mere 25 years later. (god that makes me sound old even as a grown child).

I feel really bad for the kids in college right now. They just aren't getting the enjoyment out of college that they should get. Having said that, Our society just can't sacrifice for the greater good. And that is the fault of my generation who certainly haven't instilled that value on our kids. My dad and guys just like him, kids really, went to Europe and The pacific and fought and were gone for years. Back home, gas was rationed. Food was rationed. On the east coast and the west coast, lights had to be turned off at night in fear that the enemy subs would fire on the country. I don't think they even had the ability to do that. And somehow, people didn't complain. Just went about winning two wars. Today, if you can't host a super bowl party, your freedoms are taken away. People ask, is this a communist country? We will have 4 different vaccines in no time. I get my first shot on Weds. It's tough for young people, yes. But as a old guy, this is time I can't get back. This won't last much longer. And being stuck inside watching tv isn't the greatest hardship our country has faced.

i get that kids want to party and hang out.. but they wouldnt be doing it at home if they were responsible.. there is more to being at college than drinking games.. and you can still be with friends without being at parties with 50 kids..

many kids manage to make it thru college without going to parties. survive thru April and they can have the summer to hang out again

They'd be home hanging with their friends from growing up and mixing with their families of all ages - saw it all last spring.

Of course on parties, but there are study groups and a million of other things kids do in closer quarters.
