When Malachi had the great game in the first round, I heard a few rumblings that he might bolt. I love the kid and the heart he has played with this season, but frankly he's always come across as the type of kid who is a little higher on himself than he should be (and would thus not surprise me if he left earlier than he should). After his great game in the first round, I turned to my dad and said "A few more great games like that on the national stage and I could see him bolting." We then discussed how far Syracuse would have to go in the tournament to make it worth it (for the program and for us as fans) if we were going to lose Malachi. For me, it was the Final Four. But now that we're here, I want to have my cake and eat it too.

His dud games in the last few rounds seemed to keep him from getting too much attention on the national radar, but after last night, I'll be interested to see what kind of exposure he gets. It's silly to me, but 1 great game on a big stage can make an outsized difference in draft stock (See Flynn, Jonny in 6OT game). I'm trying my best to enjoy this season and this improbable run, but I can't help but think of how much fun it would be to watch Malachi again next year. I'm surprised I haven't seen any talk on the board of him leaving. Can someone talk me down from the ledge?

He will be back next year,

He has the ability to do what he did last night, every night, next year. This year he could leave and get drafted but next year, both he and Lydon, will not only be playing their way into the 1st Round but at least one, if not both, has a shot at being a Lottery Pick. I'm really high on Richardson as a NBA prospect. He has the skillset every NBA GM wants in a 2 Guard but he's been too inconsistent this year to get drafted high. Next year is his year. If he was a year younger it would be a no-brainer but I still think he comes back.

...but we're Syracuse so who really knows. I wouldn't be shocked if a Junior Sophomore walk-on declared early and went overseas.

Malachi can leave if he wants, but I'd be surprised if he's more than a 2nd round pick at this point. It would be a worse decision than Grant/McCullough leaving early.

He has a chance to improve his stock in the coming years, but I'd be pretty shocked if an NBA team spent a 1st round pick on him this season even if he blows up in the Final Four.

Family always comes first in my world. The young man should do what is best for him and his family. I personally hope he stays, but when millions come into play I think I get it.
PS: Please Stay !

Coleman already said he was coming back.
You don't seem to understand. He is saying DC2 might be the only one. Odds of coming back:

MG 0%, TC 0%, MR 60%, TL 75%, TR 75%, FH 99%, 7'2" 100%, Battle 100%, Moyer 100%.

Next years team will be the new wave of good. With everyone a threat for 30 wins.

My guess is that he attends the combine and based on feedback comes back.

He should absolutely do this. If he gets a first round guarantee, then he'll jet.

I doubt he will and I'd bet he'll come back.

This was always going to be the case with a big tourney run. Rumblings will only get louder.

Come off the ledge and enjoy this wild ride. This is what its all about. You can head back out there next week if you are so inclined.

Huge second half but cannot ignore the 4-27 before that.

I dont believe he is on any mock drafts this year?

Correct, and he's only on one for next year.

He's still just a 36% shooter.

I mean, it's all good! Young man will do what he needs to do and that's ok by me. We are here! The rest will play out like it always does.

In the end we just have to wait and see. A lot will have to do with how he performs in the next few games. Right now though, I have to thijnk he's about right on the edge of being a first round pick. But even if he got a guarantee, I don't think it's a lock that he leaves. I think he can see that there will be a big role for him next year and that he got a chance to play himself into the lottery discussion. But there's also other factors. First, does he like college and everything that comes with it? Second, has really old for a frosh. I'm sure that will play into his thinking. I have no doubt that he will declare but I'm less sure that he will stay in.

He's shooting 30% in the tournament and 25% from 3 and doesn't really project to do much besides scoring in the NBA. I just don't see how his stock is very high right now. He shows flashes, and I think he's going to be a great player for us, but I just don't see how he's a 1st round prospect right now, and he'll be 21 next season.

Read Donna's article on Richardson on Syracuse.com. I'm becoming a softy as I get older. The stupid article made me cry. Jesus Christ!

If it helps talk you off the ledge, I'm pretty confident he stays for our Final Four games next week.

Seriously, you aren't allowed to be on the ledge today!

Exactly. Let's just enjoy this week before we find something to be worried about.
