Garrett Williams had him self a heck of a game in coverage, but he seemed to be replaced in the 2nd Half by Nunn (who was a half step below in coverage I thought but was aggressive. Was this a simple substitution or did anyone see Williams get hurt? Hoping the former.

The corner combo of Williams and Melifoosa looks to be pretty sticky. Potentially as good a tandem as I’ve seen at SU.

Agreed. It is so so so important that a young player in the secondary can emerge as a bridge from the excellent group of upperclassmen to the next group which hopefully includes Chestnut, Labrosse, Will Wells and ALIJAH CLARK. Suck it Rutgers.

I have trouble following each of them, but man, that play where Nunn just steamrolled the WR trying to block him on the bubble, and then took down the ball carrier? That was pretty sweet.

Was glad to hear Williams was holding up as well.

Could just have been a conditioning issue as that part of the normal program was short changed because of covid.

Williams had a PB or two but was in the WR grill the entire half. His coverage was really impressive against A list wideouts for a freshman. Thought his tackling was aggressive to.

Just answered my own question. Article at paper.com about the player parents not being able to attend the game. Williams Sr said Garret was injured and did not play in the 2nd Half. Was told it’s minor but still. Ugh.

by the way, article is a good read. You can really feel for the parents, especially NC native Williams and the Queeleys.

Just read that Williams had 9 tackles, not bad. He was definitely the side they were going to after they realized going at Iffy was an accident waiting to happen.

Just me or did Williams look big out there too? The days of undersized corners may finally be behind us
