Comments: The key to the game was the Penn State physically dominated our dysfunctional offense. Our defense played pretty well, save for a couple of long pass plays given up. We came close to breaking even in the kicking game but there were two ugly plays: the muffed snap on a punt that started the muff-interception-fumble sequence that ended in a Penn State field goal and Krautman missing a makeable 43 yarder. The strategy at the end of the game might have been different if the score was 20-23. But in the end it was our offensive failures that determined the outcome. Getting beat on 22 of 27 first down plays, including 3 out of 18 rushing plays meant we just never got off the ground. Our best first down play was a long pass and Penn State had three of them, two for scores.

Can't wait to see your analysis of NW. I still think they are much less talented than Penn St on defense and they don't have a D Jones NT either - Cal scored 30 on them for Pete's sake. I know they won because of two pic 6s but I think Cal played with a true freshman QB (and not a HS No 1 either) and made mental mistakes late in his first game that created the pic 6 opportunities. I think we will beat NW next week and it will be by 10.

Let's hope our O can get a play called to them before the play clock reads 10 seconds or less...
