I'm not sure anyone knows how talented our two QBs and WR room are.

Well, neither qb started at their last school so there is a reason no one knows.

I think 5.5 is a fair number. I don't see 8 wins unless other teams get totally beat up. We lost to B.C. , Pitt and Stanford last year. Three teams that were not very good. This year, the schedule is just too tough. Hope not. But 6 wins will be a solid season.

How do they know what we will have in the secondary. That’s no different than anyone on here expressing an opinion at this point.

The path to 6 is to hold serve at home

IMO that is asking a lot. We have two teams that we lost to last year. We also have quality HCs we are going against. Plus our team will be beaten up from playing all of those quality teams. And a lot of travel.

Going 5-1 I think is more realistic. Which means we need to find a way to win one on the road. Not sure where that comes from.

They do recruit and have knowledge of our roster. I think we have talent in the secondary, but they are frightfully young. Young corners get abused.

I have more confidence in our CBs than our Ss because of the youth and potential. IMO our Ss are sub par.

I don't put much stock into "they beat us last year." Every team changes from year to year now with the portal. Obviously, you can look at a team and see that their main playmakers are all returning and maybe lean toward another loss, but even then, who knows for sure what kind of other factors are at play at the point in the season at which we play them.

Conversely, I am supremely confident that teams we best last season on the schedule this season will lose to us again.

I will take 6 and be happy, we can “But look at Florida State last year ” all we want, the road schedule is brutal and we are a young team. Keep the bowl streak alive, that is a decent goal

And FSU is just one team. So while one of the top teams on our schedule might have an FSU-esque type of season, it isn't likely that multiple teams will.

My logic only works one way. Of course we will beat everyone we beat last year.

There are plenty of other players from NJ who aren't starting.

I thought we were going to be decent in the secondary. We have the 17 year old freshman and a few transfers, right? What is our 2 deep at corner and safety as of this summer?

On the flip side

it took a crazy bad game vs Pitt
a bad effort vs Stan and mistakes late
and some bad ref calls and mistakes to lose to BC

We may regress a ton on offense. Or we may run better and be down in passing and only be a little worse

We may also see an uptick on D just from being year 2 of the scheme.
