I don't think even on his last day was even an average coach, he's always been a great coach, the last few years I think he made decisions with his heart and not his head and honestly i don't even fault him for it and as someone who isn't a parent let alone an elderly one, he earned that gift to them and himself.
Did it set us back? Maybe, but they got rid of him and could've been figured out by year 2. The roster was turned over except for 2 players hand picked by Red to lead this team, anyone who knows basketball know you wouldn't ever build a team around JJ and Bell, and the rest, that's not on JB.
It's a big big big mess, but it shouldn't be this bad.
