WMU first team since 2000 to get 620+ yds & 9.7+ ypp and lose by 13+

It looked like our game plan on both sides of the ball was kept very vanilla vs WMU.

I’d expect more of the same vs Wagner.

Guess Dino doesn’t want to show any cards before FSU.

YEP ON OFFENSE ONE OF OUR STAPLE PLAYS WASNT CALLED ONCE... WR SCREEN

SUPPOSEDLY THE SCHEME IS DIFFERENT THIS YEAR AND IT WAS DOING FINE FOR THE FIRST HALF, THEN THAT WR KEPT GETTING MATCHED UP WITH SCOOP AND ADDED ABOUT 200 YARDS WHILE WE WERE TREATING THE GAME LIKE AN PRESEASON GAME, THEN WE WENT BACK TO ACTUALLY PLAYING TO WIN AND THE DEFENSE WAS BETTER . IN SUMMARY ILL GIVE THE DEFENSE THE BENEFIT OF THE DOUBT THAT THIS GAME WAS THE WHOLE TEAM THINKING IT WAS GAME OVER SINCE COACH TOOK OUT DUNGEY

Yes, i agree, but then, post ht when adjustments are made, we were in neutral. My argument is in part dt ED coming out suddenly and also we got beat with our original gameplan, not bc we were holding back exotic blitzes or looks. We arent good enough to not show certain looks on D saving them for a better opponent down the line.

im sure cisco will be told to make sure nothing gets over the top in the next real game vs fsu, he was caught with his hand in the cookie jar too many times instead of doing his job in the defense

That’s the thing though. We were good enough. We won.

WMU getting 25.5 at Michigan this week. That seems like a lot of points.

I don't know, relative to the 'showing any cards' sentiment. I think for so many of us here, it just may be more wishful thinking, ala the phrase, hope springs eternal. The status quo hasn't really changed, same defensive strategy scheme, with comparable talent and combined inexperience.

We'll see how it plays out, but coming off 2 consecutive 4-8 seasons, the thought of this team not focusing on the immediate task at hand and looking down the road to future opponents, well, imo, is frankly a frigging joke.

No matter how one attempts to justify that display of atrocious D and total yardage given up on Friday night, the stats truly speak for themselves...

My apologies in advance, but 600+ yards vs. us is embarrassing. Yeah, you don’t have to remind me that we won. It’s still not respectable...at least in my book.

I'll take the win over respect.

Yeah, I don't really buy the saving it for FSU thing. If anything it's just going to take a little more time to implement some things or work in some younger personnel. That would make more sense to me as to why things appeared vanilla. WMU game was bigger than FSU for the minimum we need to accomplish this year.

And Taggart beat Dino in the Dome already. In a game where we jumped out to a 17-0 lead. I don't think there's much that will surprise him.

Our defense absolutely stinks. How is this remotely disputable? The points we're giving up is eye opening.

Ward needs to step up or he'll be looking for another job in the offseason. I cannot imagine Dino will stick w a guy who gives up 40 a game.

When November rolls around, what are we going to remember about this game? The fact that there's a W next to WMU, or that we gave up that many yards?

that's a lot of points especially since Shea Patterson sucks and all.
Not only that, but the main place where Michigan got burned on defense was the deep ball. I'm a bit shocked now that the spread has moved up even further to 27.5 points

Maybe both, depending on how the season goes.

No reason to be pessimistic about our defense. We're only averaging giving up 51 points a game our last 4 games.

I think this is a nothing stat simply because most of those yards came once they were down by 3-4 touchdowns. Its easy to rack up yardage in that spot. We got some stops early the D was a big part of that huge lead. As long as they don't get lit up vs Wagner or Uconn and keep us in the FSU game I am happy. If Devito was able to get a first down to save his life it would have kept the D off the field and their stats wouldn't be so gaudy.
