WMU Series Announced 2018-2019

If we could get a 2:1, we'd have gotten a 2:1.
Just spit balling here...WMU's OOC schedule is as empty as ours. SU might have a codical to move the 2019 game to Kalamazoo if the Dome isn't ready and they will opt for two more games in the early 20's in Syracuse.

Holy Cross in 2019 is TBD. I wonder if SU is working a backup plan with Cornell to use their stadium and play Holy Cross in Ithaca on September 14th? SU could limit tickets to 23k and not make it part of the season ticket package. This would buy another week.

Edit: Below was my good idea...but shot down by conflating the years...oh well
SU could request Sept 28th as a bye. The Dome could open on Oct 5th, 2019.

I would have to imagine, based on the structure of the schedule, that fall 2019 is the expected completion of the project. The Holy Cross game could be played anywhere and it wouldn't really matter. Could play it in Boston at Gillette Stadium - help for recruiting maybe. That should be a win 10 times out of 10 with a margin of 40+ points by 2019, no matter where it's held.

There goes my great idea...we'll they could have Holy Cross in Ithaca the week prior.

Holy Cross is the one you could easily move to Cornell's small stadium. Didn't they reduce the capacity to the low 20s?

i have been there for a lacrosse game, nothing in either endzone just bench seating on both sides. id say 15-20k is about right , you probably could add temp seating in 1 endzone pretty easily as its just open grass. says 25.6k on wikipedia

They demolished some stands last year...

Is it normal for P5 schools to schedule home-and-homes with the MAC? Just asking. Would have thought we could get a 2-for-1 from a MAC school, but I know beggers can't be choosers at this point.

I thought the same thing, should be a 2 for 1 with a MAC team. That said, these are the types of OOC games that need to be scheduled.

With the WMU-Syracuse home-and-home football series, the schools will swap $300K paydays.

My take: Surprised at this...WMU could find a huge buy game in 2019 and drop $300k at SU but grab nearly a $1M windfall to travel to an SEC school. Hopefully it doesn't happen.

If it does...SU will be forced to pay more than $300K to get a buy game.

The paycheck is 300k but that isn't the buyout.
I am sure the buyout is a lot higher than 300k just so WMU can't buy us out.

I hope so...cause it would be awful tempting for them to pocket some cash since the G5 schools get the shaft from the TV $$$

Their 2019 OOC schedule not overly tough...should go 2-2 and maybe 3-1 with an upset.

Kalamazoo is the same distance from Detroit as Chicago. Cass Tech kids aren't going to schlep all the way across the state to watch.
But the kids we do have will be able to have their friends and family schlep all the way there so it's a good selling point.

And didn't half their team trek out to Syracuse? I think they might appreciate a shorter trip to see a team that is clearly showing they will do right by the kids they are recruiting, and shows genuine interest in recruiting the area and building relationships.

It's just so funny the crap this place gave Rutgers for years for scheduling (plenty of things to give them crap for of course), and now that's what everyone says we need.

Love it.
