Damn shame that ED wasn't healthy for that game. It could have been an epic QB duel. Mahoney gave his best but he wasn't able to match a salty 5th year senior like Wolford.

Sometimes you simply have to tip your hat to your opponent. Best player on the field, best quarterback we've seen all year, and if he plays like that all the time, he should be strongly considered for 1st team all ACC.

We've been witness ourselves to several QBs whose senior year was much better than the previous 3.

He's a smart QB, and it sounds like we were overly aggressive on RPO, which made his decisions even easier.

We better get our story straight for this weekend on who has what responsibility. I just watched Jackson's 68 yard TD against UVA. So much for my hope that this year would be like last year and he'd wear down by the end.

OR maybe the injuries on the D side of the ball really took there toll
OR could it be Wake out tempo the defense
OR it might be the fact that Franklin bit on the fact hand off, Wolford run for TD 3 times
OR Wolford is 5th year Senior with a OLine that has been playing together for 4 years

And for sure, that is a problem. As much as I will rip on the defense, I will give them credit for at least looking like they were figuring things out before halftime. I seriously do not know what happened to this defense after that

It's just simple to look at our wins and look at our losses in the last two seasons. We have beaten teams who didn't have a great QB (other than maybe VT) and we lose to teams that do have an above average QB. (See Kizer, Watson, Jackson, Wolford, Finley, etc)

people let themselves think that babers wants to be great at both offense and defense. it's crazy talk. tampa 2 is easy to learn and their hope is that it's good enough. hopefully this is just incompetence by players against the RPO. but i never expect to end up with a good defense here. recipe is be great on offense and good enough on defense.

Played correctly, the Tampa 2 is a good system in college. It forces the other team to make a lot of plays in a row to get down the field and score. Most college teams can't do that consistently. Our lack of talent, speed, size, and assignments is why the D looked so bad.

I don't think the coaches are blameless, nor the scheme or players - but Wolford's been good all season.

When we go against tempo, the whole thing looks like a Big 12 shootout. There are more possessions. If we don't get stops on 3rd down like an elite D, we're going to give up scores vs competent QB play like vs Wake.

Our inefficient offense caught up with us in the second half with a backup QB.

The solution? More efficiency and explosiveness on O - not a top 20 D.
