Word leaking out that Doug is staying...

I got no problem with Whisenhunt. Did you see the crap the Cardinals gave him to work with on offense?
I think he's a good coach. He didn't have much to work with at the QB position.

Compared to Chip Kelly and Lovie Smith, he is a massive drop off. He had crap to work with but he also only won with Kurt Warner so its a double edged sword...how good is he? I think Chip Kelly would be awesome and Lovie Smith would have our defense playing like the defense we thought we were going to have before we realized blitzing is a forbidden word at OBD.

He certainly had crap to work with at AZ but I think the Bills can and need to do, much better

Here is the post that was deleted. It had more than 40 responses, so a lot of people did read it. (Before someone shouts at me, I was not the one who deleted it).

"I think its time for Doug to go. I'd dismiss him the second he sets foot back in Manley. The damage has been done IMO. I'd pick the best available of the current staff to be HC and have them try to keep the recruiting class together. Its clear SU will never pony up for a national name as a coach, so give one of the coordinators a shot.

"The timing of this is horrible and I hope DG has a rabbit in his hat, because DM has just ripped out the programs heart."
a tad bit of over reaction there. Why was it deleted? Ah I know why...

its a conspiracy to make certain board posters look dumb who may have missed it... :-)

He's coming back! Even though CTO and the BoT hate football and would rather sip wine than lift a finger to keep him! Impossible!

Every coach is an unknown. Who knows if Kelly will be boom or bust in the NFL? Smith has always had terrible offenses and had a lot to work with on defense during his time in Chicago.

It all depends on personnel. ie Quarterback

You can all thank me. I happened to find out that DM wanted someone he could take all his rage and frustration out on regarding the dimwitted, shortsighted , and down right mean fan letters. He needed someone with broad shoulders and who could act as a tackling dummy for 5 hours. Naturally, I offered up JoeCollege. As a result, Joe may be in the hospital recovering for awhile. No need to send flowers. Just make donations to SU Football. I'll send Joe little care packages of soup and straws until his jaw heals.

As a result of this trying time, Joe will now become The Punisher for SU Football. Any dimwitted fan letters will be passed to him for sentencing and justice. Tell your schmuck friends and family they better buck up and stop sending hate mail. All have been warned.

:)

@brentaxemedia: Heard the IPF deal has been signed, Will be called McFreeny field in the Al Davis building. Groundbreaking scheduled for mid-feb.

Ha.

You sure about that?
Yeah. There was one who said he should have quit before the bowl if he was thinking of taking another job, whether or not he had an offer

SU ripped DM heart out. It's time to stop playing games. SU hasn't done a damn thing for football since the Dome. They need to step up or give up and stop pretending to be a player in D1 football.

If it's true that Marrone is staying, let's all strive to do a bit more in 2013 to support this program. I'm a season ticket holder but I've never donated but I will if Marrone stays. It may not be much but it will show my support.

To what end?

Syracuse University is not broke and they certainly do not need money from me to get anything built. Ask Miami residents how they feel about the Marlins new stadium deal. Hell ask Syracuse residents how they feel about Destiny USA.

I have no issue stepping up and purchasing season football tickets or giving a little extra but I need to know what I am investing in. Is it a good deal for me as a CNY resident to help a private school build a new stadium that will not provide any tangible benefit to the community at large? No. In that case the school needs to pony up the dough. If however they open the books and show athletic expenses, show all athletic funds go to athletics, show all donations go to athletics and where, can offer a plan on how the new athletic buildings will help the CNY community, etc then you have a real relationship with donors and supporters who would go to the ends of the earth to help make Cuse athletics tops in the country. Cloak and dagger crap where we are supposed to send in a few thousand dollars and watch as ribbon lights go up for more advertising, signs in Yankee stadium or NYC cabs while facilities fall down around us is not a good use of my or anyone elses money.

Well we could go back into manic mode if EBO chooses SU today! So let's see - we were manics winning the Pinstripe, depressive with our HC interviewing, now manic again when EBO & LaRay choose SU and HCDM stays with the program!

Yep - sounds like to me a typical football forum! Go Orange!
Then we'll follow hoops for a couple weeks until the closing moments before signing day where someone unexpectedly flips (or is rumoured to be getting late interest from a factory school). Commence next meltdown.

You could also throw in a couple more mini-tantrums as news of actual or potential transfers is leaked. We'll save possible non-qualifiers for later on.

Love how every "Marrone NFL" thread gets turned into who the Bills should hire by us Bills fans. Got to love it... Word out of Buffalo is OBD interviewed Chip this morning and they interview Lovie tomorrow as well as maybe another interview for Whisenhunt (who is supposed leader)... ugh

Anyways my two cents on SU, I talked with someone who formerly worked very closely with football program and the SU athletic department. From what they had heard, many in the department believe he is trying to use this whole thing as leverage to get more money/better facilities. Also basically said that in their opinion Marrone would leave in heart beat to NFL, and that the SU job was not what he expected.. basically its not 1987 anymore. Problem for Marrone is that it is very difficult to get a NFL job, he is not high enough on team's list yet.

Lastly they believed that SU is turned around to the point that if somehow HCDM did get an offer, Al Golden would be a legit candidate.

The tweet from the Cleveland AP writer is blowing up everywhere now... yet it seems to be the only hint that HCDM is staying...

Way this week has ebbed a flowed, it would not surprise me if the tweet is not accurate... :(

New field turf in the Dome?
New football wing / player lounge and lockers at Manley?
New weight room at Manley?
Two brand new field turf practice fields?
Converting Manley into an indoor practice facility?

Yup, SU hasn't done a damn thing for the football program since 1980. Oh Lord

Sort of sad that Boeheim's (and maybe he's right) view/slant focuses on who does not like him or his abilities. He's in the HOF and still some (while maybe "significant", I think it is just a loud minority) he should not be here. I love the quotes by Roy Danforth who basically said that what Boeheim has done is nothing short of a miracle. With that said, it's the nature of some to whine and complain and Jim has probably figured it out and lives with it. Hopefully Marrone will too and understand that these whiners will never go away but they are the minority. I swear that if he won a National Championship, someone would come out and say the game was rigged, or it is tainted because he didn't have any 5 star recruits or the officials gave the game to him or allowing Delone Carter back on the team taints it or the Paulus family pulled strings it or...

earmark it for the indoor practice facility.

I don't understand why Doug wouldn't be a good candidate for an NFL HC job? He has been an OC in the NFL for an offense that was a top scoring team, Oline coach in the NFL had many assistant jobs in college and of course 4 years of HC experience coaching a major college football school with limited resources. If anything, he's proven more than Kelly has who went into a great situation and had a lot of bucks to help him win.

Yeah, unfortunately all that is where we should have been 12 years ago.

Yeah this is all great. The fact that it took 1,482 days to get done is the problem. It took 49 months to raise $5M. ($4M for Manley FBall Wing Renos, $1M for Manley BBall to Football Reno).
