He has been in the system for a year, if DM doesn't see him being an impact player he could cut him loose (think Mookie)

Different coaching staff. Plus the guys poached were poached by ex-Pitt coaches.

Like someone said nothing is official until the name is on the dotted line. Players are free to look for better options so are the schools. Kids get recruited over all the time.

1 to 4 spots I think. Depends on what the staff knows about any certain non qualifiers and the kids that are verbals that are open.

You could always ask Pat Barrett to take one for the program and have his kid be a preferred walk on this year.

You have to be very careful both ways. By taking on some of these recruits you will open other doors that were closed before...It goes both ways.

You can't go of guys who have been truly committed, but with Owens leaving and several other committs looking around, there should be some spots available.

To an extent this is to close to signing day to really nab a lot of there class one to two kids at the most maybe flip to us. To me why burn a bridge that has been loyal when there is plenty of time to build relationships with there high school connections? It's not like we can start doing this for the 2013 class while having the other avenues open. To me this is the best way to get the best of both worlds . Of course with that said if your referring to pull a ship from a person that has been shopping around on us a lot then it's a whole nother ball game

It looks like there are only 3 Rutgers recruits who had SU offers:

6-6, 300 lb. OT JJ Denman, Pennsbury (PA) H.S.

6-3, 275, OG Derrick Nelson, Archbishop Carroll (DC) HS

6-1, 210 OLB Steve Longa, Saddle Brook (NJ) HS

I think Nelson is now redundant, Denman would be great, but lots of competition, Longa would be a nice late pickup, IMHO. Athletic, looks like the best is ahead of him.
