Mike Lindsley just broke down the SU-Tulane game. He said that Tulane's only hope is to "get open shots and make them".

He's the worst In America. Just the worst.

Wow. Pretty sharp analysis on his part. My goal when I play golf is to make every putt I take.

I have a feeling that that was Naismith's first idea. It was certianly his best.

The key to putting is to know two things:

Putting is easy.
I am good at putting.

This has always worked for me. I've only changed my stance and grip once in about 20+ years of golfing and that was simply because I was taking my whole game more seriously at the time. I have always putted with a normal length blade style putter just like the one my dad put in my bag the first time I ever played. Golfers that struggle with putting are always changing their putter, stroke, grip and pace. they are always tinkering, practicing and thinking about it. Good putters just go out and make puts and generally spend much less effort on putting in my experiance.

Actually, I think that's good analysis. A lot of "analysis" is crap. I'd love to do one of the NFL shows on Sunday.

Studio: "Let's turn it over to OttoinGrotto for today's keys to the game."
OIG: "Thanks, Kirby. It's pretty simple. The key to the game for the Giants is to score more points than the Jets. For the Jets, the key to the game is to outscore the Giants."
Studio: "Looking at the matchup between Eli and Mark Sanchez, how do you see..."
OIG: "Welp, I'm outta here."

I actually have putted with same Ping Anser putter for the past 25 years. Canty see changing anytime soon.

The putt you take is equal to the putt you make.

That strategy is pretty lame, clearly what Tulane needs to try to do is score more points than SU. That is the only way they can win.

+1 on 'most analysis is crap', as I get older I find myself not caring much about what pundits and talking heads have to say about whichever sporting event. Almost as useless as the sideline reporter.

I switched to the 2 ball white hot about 5 years ago. Love it. Obviously it's 90% mental

I'm reading James Garner's autobiogrpahy. He's an avid golfer, (he devotes a whole chapter to it), and got to know a lot of the top golfers. He said that Gary Player had given him the following putting tip:

GP: "Jim, how far is that put?"
JG: "Twenty Feet?"
GP: "OK, how much does it break?"
JG: (after examining it closely) "Eight Inches"
GP: OK, now line up, close your eyes, visualize the roll and hit the ball exactly 18 feet, 8 inches."
It went right in the hole and Garner used it for the rest of his golf career, (he stopped playing three years ago), even teaching the method to others. "It's not one of those 'Ive got the secret now' things: it's mental. "

And the other 90% is based on where the drunk greenskeeper decides to place the hole today. I played a green once where the hole was place on the steep incline at the back. He either smoked too much ragweed or plays too much Putt Putt.

hahahaha, and for the record, the "drunk greenskeeper" is not a stereotype. I've known 10 greenskeepers in my life, 9 were drunks.

I guess the key for us is to take contested shots & make em anyways.

Those are great putters. I had a ping zing 2 for years and years but someone stole it out of my bag at a course. (What is wrong with people) I replaced it with a Walter Hagen (Dick's Special) that looked just like it other than having a silver finish and it works great. It was on sale for like 30 bucks.

Putting with his eyes closed?

Thats great. Have you ever read that Nicklaus book. he has a good take on it with an example when he was playing with his wife thats pretty entertaining.

I always looked at it like I swing the putter so slowly compared to all the other clubs that I pretty much have complete control over it. If you can read greens well and know the pace you should knock plenty in and very rarely if ever 3 put.
