Never thought I'd see the day.

Personally, I'd rather start the tournament already having taken a loss somewhere. It's hard enough to win the tourney, you don't need the added baggage of trying to go undefeated to go along with it.

I don't know who we'll lose to, but it will happen somewhere.

Let's just lock up a 1 seed, and let the chips fall where they may.

I think if the Big East was having their normal year (3 teams in the top 10; 8 in the top 25) most people wouldn't talk about it. But the BE is having a major down year and this one of the best regular season teams the BE has had in a while.

I still think Louisville gets us once. UConn has a shot too. But that's it.

At some point in the season, we are going to witness the mother of all court stormings. I hope its not when I'm at ND next weekend.

I remember Butgers having an undefeated season, like 40 years ago, and getting knocked out of the ncaa playoffs. They never recovered. They were a failed one season wonder. That is not us. Even if we went undefeated during the reg season but without a NC, our program would not take a hit. Except for UCon, this is the weakest Big East ever.

Big difference. That Rutgers team was a product of playing a weak schedule. the east wasn't what it is now.

1997, 2001 and 2003 were MUCH weaker than this year. Coincidentally, two of these were the only two seasons where BC won the regular season.

Jake, that court storming could be at Syracuse with a win against louisville on march 3rd, to mark a perfect regular season!!

Basketball or football?

I haven't stormed the court in about 25 years but I will be out there like a 15 year old kid if this happens.

I dont see ND beating us in any possible fashion. Yukon will probably be the game in Yukon.

I don't think we'll go undefeated. Our second half lapses suggest we are prone to losing our attention at times.

Feb. 8 - Georgetown
Feb. 11- UConn
Feb. 13 @ Louisville
Feb.19 @ Rutgers
Feb. 22 USF
Feb. 25 @ UConn
Mar 3 Louisville

The last seven games are going to be a tough stretch, even if none of the individual teams are quite as good as we originally thought. I don't expect that UConn and Louisville are going to go down twice easily for us. Also that 3 games in 6 days stretch finishing at the Yum Center on a Saturday to Monday turn around is going to be a huge challenge. Also, not included in the stretch above is a game at Cincy.

There are plenty of challenges on this schedule. Much greater than anything we've encountered yet. I think it is way premature to think about an undefeated season.

Having watched enough of our opponents now, I think we probably have about a 50/50 chance of doing it. Yeah yeah, i know the Beast is tough...blah blah, but we have not played exceptionally well lately and we are still winning. our starters were BAD last night and we are still winning going away. i literally think our bench sits there and tries to show up the starters when they go in. awesome problem to have.

cant see it-it would be "epic" but its too dang hard to win every game-30 years ago you didnt have this amount of very good mid majors-

I don't think our losses will come necessarily as a result of the quality of our opponents. It may have a lot to do with how they are grouped on the schedule.

That's a lot of wood to cut in six days.

I want to win that game so bad, but the fact it's going to be played at Storrs is tough. I hope for a controversial finish like the 2010 game and for Cuse to win again with their fans throwing things onto the court.

I think I will start really believing we can possibly do it if we get through the Uconn game on the 11th unbeaten. That would put us at 25-0. with 6 games left. Then I will get pretty antsy and excited knowing it could possibly become a reality.

Agree Pfister.

it's natural to wonder because we'll probably be favored in every game... but we can start talking about this when there are maybe 3 games left in the regular season. it's so premature at this point, it's absurd.

That said I don't think anyone should root for them to lose before the NCAAs - or under any circumstance. Losing can do just as much to affect a team's psyche as the pressure of continuing to play well. If they do lose, let's hope it's because the other team played out of their minds and not because our players started getting complacent or sloppy.

And also, let's remember even though every team is gunning to take down #1, there's a subconscious intimidation factor that comes with that reputation. No opposing player will admit that. Let's just keep winning.

You must be really chomping at the bit for us to pick up that first loss...

I think it might be a good time to step back and take a deep breath. According to current standings in the BE (no using ties), we've played teams ranked 2, 9, 13, 14, and 15. While we manhandled #2, it was in the dome. The more difficult games to win in conference, traditionally, have been the road games. Those are the 13, 14, and 15 teams. The next two games are against 14 and 16.

There is a lot of basketball to be played, and things will get much more difficult once we start playing top-half teams on the road.
