wow tonight is worst case scenario for cuse

humble pie. I really believe in this Florida team. They are going to be there at the end.
I absolutely think UF is for real and a FF threat. But we all know the haters will come from the woodwork with the "Syracuse's only good win just lost to Rutgers" statements.

UF is good but I don't think they are FF caliber. Maybe if they shoot FTs the way they did tonight (18-19). They are at 64% on the year and have had early exits recently because of how bad the guards shoot FTs. Young can still only dunk but if Murphy gives them more scoring then perhaps. I think teams like Louisville, Missouri, and Stanford would be tough matchups for the Gators.

I think there is a distinction to be made between FF threat and FF caliber. Sure Florida is a threat for the FF, since they are a Sweet 16 caliber team. But at this juncture there are probably only 7-8 teams that are FF caliber. Obviously not all of them will make it and the season is still relatively young - so some teams that may still grow and develop into a FF caliber team by March.

Cheers,
Neil

Florida has as good of a backcourt you'll find in the country, a stud in Patric Young, a 6'10 big man who can shoot the 3 in Eric Murphy, and a pretty good set of role players around them. FF threat=a team that has the talent that can get there. Yes I agree that there aren't more than 10 teams right now that fit the criteria of a FF team, but Florida is one of them.

Not good that Florida loses to rutgers ... bad omen, bad for our RPI ... Damn

since we play both teams it will be a wash as far as rpi by the end of the season

I think Florida is a FF caliber team. Losing at Ohio St (with Sullinger) by 7 and at SU (without Murphy) by 4 is pretty damn good. I wouldn't say they're one of the favorites but Walker, Boynton, and Beal are good enough to make it happen.

Who cares, we will make the tournament barring something terrible, keep winning and the seeding will take care of itself

I couldn't care less if every other BE team went .500 in conference.

Our team is great, and it stands on its own.

Marquette can't lose enough to make me happy (sure, I'm bitter).

If every other BE team is average or worse, then we've got the top overall seed locked up. Sounds good to me.

I think that when the dust settles Florida will still be a very good team and that will remain a very good win. Its hard to say they looked good in a lost to Rutgers, but I still think they are a legitimate top-10 caliber team. And Beale is not getting any worse.

The Big East is down, but down from the highest perch of any conference in history. It is still better than ACC or SEC

..whoa everybody...ESPN Insider has 'Cuse on top of RPI even including the Florida loss...our strenght of schedule fell to #5...so take a deep breath...

Florida has lost all 3 of its road games...Rutgers plays well at home...we know this...not a big deal at all...Florida remains in the top 40 RPI...and dont forget, Seton Hall is in top 25 RPI

You're right. Now is a good time as any to shed the "a loss is lurking behind every corner" mentality that we have been hardwired over the years to expect.

Agree, Agree, Agree, Agree... Just keep winning. I don't see a team that can beat us. Yes any team can lose, but on paper there isn't a better team out there. We have too many combinations to work with.

H3ll! Our 2nd 5 are better than many teams's starting 5

Go 'Cuse! Beat DePaul!

I am certainly no hater... but there is truth to that statement.

even if UConn, Louisville, Marquette and others are not as good as their current rankings imply, tell me what other top team plays a conference schedule that will be any more challenging than ours. Ohio State vis-a-vis the Big Ten is the only one comparable this year.

I worry about things like this when Cuse is on the bubble but when we are battling for a #1 seed it doesn't matter, just keep winning

If you're the No.1 team in CBB & are still worried about what folks say regarding your schedule, then you're simply looking for something to gripe about, IMO.
Beat who they put in front of you & let folks say what they want. There's no better way to answer than by winning.

Hard to tell. Look at some of the teams that knocked us out of the tournament. Navy, Richmond, Penn, Vermont, UMass, Rhode Island, all smaller program type Eastern schools that we get knocked for playing in Nov-Dec. We destroyed Navy in early Dec 1985 and a few months later in March, blew us out in a NCAA tournament AT THE DOME, in Pearl , Addison, and Alexis' last game.
Just saying any numbers or info you look at now just entering league play, is somewhat irrelevant to predicting future success. For example Florida could end the regular season 21-8 , lose to Ole Miss, Georgia and South Carolina , and still be a dangerous FF caliber team.
The best test is the eye test. We sure are passing the eye test.

UF had no business going into the RAC anyway. I have no idea why Donovan would even schedule that game. We all know how much better Rutgers is there than they are away. Unfortunately, the rest of the country (media and fans) don't know that.

Maybe because he doesn't mind scheduling road games? Why wouldn;t be schedule it?
