Just think of the publicity if he goes to Su and it’s a shock to everyone. Creates a nice story and momentum

wiltfong has always been pretty fair to cuse. if we arent even listed in 4 schools, we arent in good shape. just an opinion. certainly hope i am wrong.

of course he said good things about other top programs. True on Wiltfong. He knows his stuff. But this seems like a situation of Russell being unique and keeping things very close to the vest and not really telling anybody what his pecking order is.

And I don’t really think the sites are necessarily just making stuff up to generate clicks. He’s a top player and their reporting where he’s going and what he says about them. They are going to speculate and report on the info they know. Hopefully they don’t know it all. He didn’t make an official here so a lot of their logic makes sense.

We just have to hope this is an unusual case. I have to say, If it is the Cuse, him staying in the spotlight with all these other top schools and then picking SU in the end would be pretty damn awesome.

But I’m not going to get my hopes up. I’m pretty sure I’m not going to get my hopes up.

I keep thinking back to the Fab Melo recruitment. Also, I always think like if I was a recruit I’d 100% play off where I’m going. Every interview I take with any dumb recruiting site I’d be like “tell you what, Oregon and Alabama are AMAZING and SUPER HIGH on my list.” Then I’d pick a school I literally never mentioned. I don’t even care if it happens with Cuse, I just want SOME recruit to troll that hard.

The atms are being refilled. If I were a recruit I would keep throwing out the biggest names to try and get the biggest deal from where I actually want to go. Then come decision day BAM shockingly go with the best fit for my even if not the highest bidder and then become my teams number 2 recruiter (behind Fran)

I find this whole recruitment interesting. The one thing we ignore in how Russell responds, is the context of the questions he is asked. There is a big difference between:

Who are your top 4/5 schools?
vs
You recently just visited 4 power programs where do they stand in your recruitment?

This is something that can be purposely slanted as many have said to drive click bait for higher paying fan bases. i also think Russell is very deliberate in his responses for a reason, I truly hope he commits here and has a HOF career. His committal would be the shot across the bow moment to the big programs that Fran would need to send that message.

I'm not sure if they make stuff up but they certainly push the positive info to generate some interest for their subscriber bases. But in this case i'm not sure if its on purpose. And Yes Rivals is an awful site in regards to getting any SU recruiting info. They probably get way less info about SU players because we have no subscribers there. Why would they spend the time to get the info or do interviews? But it does seem odd they don't list his offer to SU even. You would think that info would have came up at some point for them to add even if not for SU subscribers.

Similarly to On3, you never see any buzz or user predictions to SU because we likely don't have many subscribers for that site. But user predictions seems mostly meaningless in regards to accuracy. Doubt many fans are predicting recruits to schools they are not fans of. Unfortunately It artificially makes it look like SU is not a involved or a player on the scene by other fan bases that are on Rivals or On3. It seems like it create a lower perception of our program by outsiders. But we have a great non recruiting site forum here in SyracuseFan and any diehards that also have recruiting site subscriptions would use 247 as they are the only other real option for a source of SU recruiting info.

On the other hand, we can't definitively say whether he mentioned SU or not. Russell himself did not edit the article, or write it up. So I wouldn't make an attribution about what the kid is thinking based upon an article.

richmondcuse03 is not setting himself up for anything. He passed along information that he's hearing. That information could absolutely be correct.

If it's not, and you can't understand that information can change, that's on you. Not him. And if people "hang" him they shouldn't expect any other people with information to pass that along in the future.
