Class of 2026 WR E'Shawn Sutton (FL) Flipped to CMU

Agree on all points but his senior season stats per MaxPreps were 11 games with 29 tackles, 2 pass deflections and 5 INT's. So not exactly poor at the stat level. Offensivly he had 295 yds receiving and 2 TD's.
That doesn’t exactly scream P4, ACC level player stats to me. Winter Park is in a good league, but it’s no Miami, SE Florida league. Let’s be fair here. That’s a pretty poor senior season for an ACC level recruit

Every coach at the D1 level has done this. Idk what Fran said or how the phone call went. But every coach has dropped a kid whether it’s a poor senior season, injuries, new staff coming in, etc….this is nothing new. And let’s not act like he had a good senior season. He did not. There’s ways to go about dropping a kid. Once again idk what Fran did. Character wise I know Fran isn’t exactly the best/greatest sometimes so it wouldn’t be crazy if he said something bad.

I know there’s a few high schools that won’t let Fran talk to any of their kids….I think we can add Winter Park, FL to that list

Bless their little hearts. Not directed at you.

As much as it sucks for the kid, I understand every coach has done this. Their job is to win football games. I do hope Fran learned from this and similar situations, so he doesn't burn more bridges at other high schools.

If you believe what was said in the Orlando Sentinel article, I think Sutton was an example of Fran learning that, as much as he wants to build a program through high school recruiting, he needs to allow more room for recruiting players in the portal. He can't offer as many scholarships to fliers like Sutton probably was. Pulling offers later on is only going to cause damaged relationships at more and more high schools.

Rival recruiters as in other schools, not the website lol

1) This player didn’t flip. He was given the talk 3 months ago and now committed to CMU. Please change that to verbal to CMU or something.

2) This is the way factories have always recruited. The only difference between us and them is that rather than give kids the talk that we took early verbals from that either didn’t develop, that we ended up recruiting over in the same class or that we had to move on from due to roster balance, we still honored the scholarship to our own detriment. So while that’s admirable, it’s also a great way to pile up players that aren’t of use on your roster. Fran is expected to deliver results and you don’t do that with the wrong player mix. And developments on the ground can change that and you need to adapt. As brutal as it is in the short-term, I’d rather this be the approach because it’s the best thing for the program in the long run.

It's not the "current state of college", it's our own coaches pulling scholarships.
No ...it IS the current state of college athletics. Name one P4 program that does not or would not pull a scholarship if circumstances dictated?
It's called big boy athletics and happens everywhere. Those who ride the high horse and think SU or HCFB are somehow "different" because of DART or whatever...need to get over themselves. We don't have to like it, but it is what it is. JMHO

This isn’t a welfare state. You make changes as the situation dictates it or you find yourself looking for a new job.
