Yup. Michael Smith at TE too. I think that’s going to be a really underrated signing. He’s going to be used like Orande and I think Smith is just as talented as Orande and probably a more fluid athlete than Orande tbh
 
Great athlete! I actually liked him a lot at Safety the first go around as well.

He has a lot of potential but I’m hesitant to anoint him Gill replacement as he’s not a natural receiver so still a large learning curve here. He’s got incredible burst but like most young receivers needs a lot of route running work. IMO currently he’ll be most helpful in the screen game and could give us a different look in wildcat if Nixon chooses to try. I’d like to see us use him similar to how Mohammed Sanu was used at Rutgers (close to line work like screens/drag routes etc). He’s not quite the strider that Sanu was but he’s more twitchy and has better burst.

Honestly if we have a capable QB. Angeli, Odom and hopefully Dickens are all capable and better than what we has last year we will be fine on offense. I like what we did at receiver and I think Smith has Gadsden potential. Just gotta stay somewhat healthy. Still think we are a little thin at RB. I like the Miller add. I think Johnson can be good but he’s definitely an RB 2 or 3 at this stage.

I was more worried about defense. Specifically d-line, the pass rush and Safety. I like what we did with the pass rush. I think Adeleye, Johnson, David O and Tremble will be good off the edge. Plus Rodgers and Wilson whatever they can provide as true freshman will be a bonus. I think Perry, Nissi, Nyandoro, Hastings, Flounoy and Fontus is a solid group to anchor the middle. Linebackers are reallll solid. We’ve had some really good adds on defense but I think our biggest get was definitely the DC. He is proven as a DC and head coach. He knows his stuff and is solid. He’s an attacking DC, which is the polar opposite of Robinson. I can see this defense being more like Tony White days. A lot more blitzes. Stunts on the d-line, more sacks and takeaways. I will feel a lot better adding one more playing making safety.

Still concerned about the safties. Running back would like to add maybe one more. And O-line looks like they are trusting the guys we already have here and counting on development. I think Washington, Mack and Cruz are solid. I know they like Hawn and Stewart. Pringle, Bertrand and Rice really need to have solid off seasons. The potential is definitely there but they have to put it together. But a lot of inexperience otherwise so they must really like what they have in the development pipeline. I would have liked us to add 1-2 experienced and ready guys in the portal which we still might do.

As of now we are at 94 scholarships so we technically have room for 11 more…doubt we add 11 more. But that’s where we are at

I think we have to add at least one OL. Hoping for 2. I mean we lost a starting OT, G and Center as well as depth.

Hoping for one more safety and maybe one more on the DL as well.

Yup. I feel really good about QB if we get Dickens too. Feel good about the receivers and TE with what we have and added. Feel realllly good about corner and linebackers. One more good depth piece on the d-line and I’ll feel real good there too.

Feel really good about specials too. Woody coming back. And then adding a stud freshman punter and kicker too. We are good there for a few years lol

Yes it is and it's only going to get better each year. Fran is the real deal. Took charge of the coaching situation and continues to impress with his honesty, integrity, love of the kids and his work ethic. Great person who is truly All in on helping these kids succeed in life. I have an enormous amount of respect for him.

Well... too early to say that, espeically at WR.

I think the fanbase is so traumatized by how the season went after Angeli got injured that they forget how dominant of a trio JRS / Cook / Gill were before the injury. They ran circles around the Clemson secondary, which has a pair of corners expected to be drafted highly this spring.

And that trio largely replaced the dominant group from the year before, with OG [I'll list him here at wideout, even though he was technically a Y-TE], Pena, and Meeks.

I think we retooled at WR. And landing Outten is icing on the cake. We had a group of players who were in secondary roles at wideout who flashed last year [Darien Williams, Tyshawn Russell, Darius Johnson] much like Gill had flashed as a member of the second unit the year before, so the returning cupboard isn't bare.

Then you add in Calvin Russell, one of the top five highest recruits in program history, Outten, Gough, and several transfers -- and we have a full THREE-deep of capable guys, IMO.

So yeah, maybe you're right about WR. But we need to see it on the field first.

I'm thinking we'll be fine at TE with Smith coming in. Important to keep in mind that Villari was leading the nation in receiving yardage for tight ends before Angeli got injured.

Not sure about RB.
