Class of 2026 WR Messiah Hampton (NY) Verbal to Oregon

Im not saying this is a done deal but the pieces are really starting to line up here for us to get a commitment...

From my understanding, if Hamptons mom and dad get their way. He’ll be Orange. Seems like Fran is working his magic. Regardless if we land him, it’ll be a fight to hold onto him until signing day
Playing in front of family is important. It also seems like Messiah is a very religious young man (shocker). I saw on social medial him speaking on a bible verse (I believe?) Those are 2 big things that go in our favor.

It would be mind bending if we got both but if i had to pick of the 2 i would go with Hampton just because we have to keep these in-state, especially upstate kids at home. Sure having a 6’5” speedster would be amazing, but for continuing to build our brand, if i had the choice i’d go with Hampton.

Calvin and Messiah are both blue chip talent. However, getting Messiah sends a message that nobody comes in Fran's backyard and scoops up elite talent. We saw it last year when UMich put the fullcourt press on Quante Gillians and Fran put the kibosh on that. Hopefully again this year with Messiah.

Getting him sets the precedent that Upstate NY is ours and will pay dividends in the future.

Syracuse football makes top 7 of 4-star WR Messiah Hampton, Oregon has analyst buzz
Word broke on Sunday that fast-rising Rochester, N.Y., product Messiah Hampton, the No. 1 prospect within his cycle in New York state, has trimmed his list of contenders still in the running to seven suitors, and Syracuse football remains in contention.
The elite four-star wide receiver in the 2026 class has a final seven of the Orange, Oregon, Penn State, Ohio State, Michigan, Georgia and fellow Atlantic Coast Conference school Miami. That's some kind of top seven, and it's great to see the 'Cuse in the mix.
That being said, over at On3, there are at least three analyst projections in the direction of Oregon for Hampton. On Sunday, I didn't see any predictions for him on the 247Sports Web site or .

According to media reports, the 6-foot-1, 191-pound Hampton plans to make his college decision known on June 13, which is fast approaching.

“Messiah Hampton is a Rochester native, some 90 minutes from campus, and he has felt the press from Brown and company since they took over in Central New York. Oregon and Miami are the top contenders working on an upset ahead of a June 13 decision date.”

An upset if he picks Oregon or Miami over Syracuse. That’s a choice of the word upset now lol. But I like the mindset that we are a high caliber program that it would be an upset for another school to get someone in the backyard that we want.

John Garcia Jr. also notes in this article that he expects Syracuse to land one of Hampton/Russell: “but in this era and with the momentum SU has created, we're calling the shot for the Orange to snag one of these class headliners in the coming weeks.”

Definitely is interesting how he’d be considering it an upset as Oregon still has plenty of predictions to land Hampton, which worries me.

From what I know it’s a 70% chance for Cuse. 20% Miami and 10% Oregon. Even if/when he commits to Cuse June 13th need to hold onto that for another 6 months till signing day.
Do you expect any predictions for Cuse to come in to land him?

Prediction if they do come will be like June 11th or 12th.
Also, only a 10% chance for Oregon? Doesn’t that seem a little low with Hampton’s connection to Ross Douglas as well as the fact that’s Hampton is gonna take an OV to Oregon on Monday?
