No I mean we will see if he can recruit here. Dude has landed major prospects everywhere he’s been. He has landed a few here, but not as many as his other stops.

Everyone always says “stars don’t matter” and I agree with that somewhat. But tell me, who are the teams always playing in BCS bowls and CFP games???

Is it the teams that bring in 20 3-stars and a few 4-stars? Or is it teams that bring in 20 4-stars and try to supplement with 3-star diamond in the rough type kids.

If you're the slightest bit of a critical thinker you can see the flaws with pay-for-access recruiting sites and how their evaluations are going to be different if a kid commits to a school whose site makes thousands as opposed to a school whose site makes hundreds.

When they interviewed the recruiting staff you could tell they were not impressed with the quality of the ranking system reviews

I think we also have to understand that its great and easy to get 4-5 guys and feel good about it. But you see the number of them that are transferring out and not really helping teams as well.

If we see a 3 star that we think can be 4 star ish 2 yrs down the road that does not mean recruit sites are right or wrong, they just dont care as much about the bigger picture.

if Fran sees someone that can play in his system and work the way he wants and you have 100 of them that might be better than a team of 4 stars who dont play together.

Looks like a good slot guy that is really fast for a HS junior.

Sidenote: I hope they finish the Route 15 Bypass in my lifetime. Being forced off the highway into a traffic jam (Shamokin Dam) for the past 20 years has not been fun.

The premise of your argument though is utilizing rankings as the be all and end all for the evaluation of recruiting. Essentially, using recruiting sites to start the evaluation vs. using film. Rankings are always problematic, but at this stage of the calendar specifically, are miles off. I know this from first hand experience.

Fran likes tools. He trusts his coaching and his strength staff to maximize those tools. It is getting to the point where you know the measurables and talents to expect before turning on the film when a kid gets an offer or commits. I'll use the OL that just committed as an example. When I saw 260 pounds, I was surprised b/c that is not the size Fran pulled in. But, you turn on the film and the kid's frame is massive and fits with what we expect for his OL recruiting.

2026 is the first year of recruiting where Fran doesn't feel like he is behind. 2025's class was all about measurables and bringing in the clay to be molded to assist with some of Dino's struggles at the end of his tenure on the recruiting side. Increase the overall speed and physicality up and down the roster.

I expect most people will be very happy with where the 2026 HS recruiting class shakes out in December.

I trust the staffs evaluations after seeing Watson, Kerr, McDaniels who were barely ranked. But its not rocket science that higher ranked kids usually outperform 3 stars.
