Gary Gait is a nice guy, hall of fame player and a good businessman apparently but he's a bad HC. It's year 4 and this program is in the same shape it was in Deskos last year.

Team has the same issues year after year despite a huge talent influx from year 1 to now. This offense mystifyingly dissappears for huge stretches, we still can't figure out a 10 man ride and for the third year in a row a top 3 team in not turning the ball over can't clear or stop turning it over in the last qtr of the season.

Defensively we struggle to stop known players and are the worst double team defense I have ever seen. I'm pretty sure Petro just broke through 3 guys for yet another goal. Dwan looks absolutely lost and our lsms got abused today.

Worst of all this team still can't play with any sense of discipline. Another 3-4+ penalties and so many wasted Offensive possessions. We also insist on playing the 2nd midline every other possession despite it being an absolute blackhole Offensively. Fundamentals are also a complete mess. That last sequence down 2 with 19 secs left was embarrassingly bad

Gait will get next year but if and when this team loses to ND next week and misses the tourney Wildhack should seriously consider pulling the trigger. Gait is not the long term answer and we're delaying the inevitable

hear me out...

cuse is bubble in right now...they might be the last team in as things stand.

one of a few ways they could be left out is if there's a bid steal in the ivy league...

yale shocks the world and wins the ivy, taking an at-large bid from cuse...

cuse fires gait for missing the tournament when they had final four expectations...

cuse HIRES ANDY SHAY

anyone else see in to the future like i have?

jk...or maybe not.

Honestly I'd go after Chemotti. Shays a good coach but that defense has been to bad for to long.

Haha. I’m not sure what’s more unlikely, Yale winning another game, or Syracuse.

I was under the impression that Shay was approached about the Syracuse job when it first came open, but his wife who is a CT native did not want to move. Either way, given how Yale has performed these last few years, not sure it’s something I’d be excited about.

I don’t see them firing Gait unless there is an alum uprising against him. How likely is that? The only wild card I can see in this is if Spallina Sr raises heck and leads a coup against Gait. Feels more likely that Spallina jr just bails.

At this point the only two names I’d be excited about are Chemoti and perhaps Kirwin. Get some major money and hire Tillman of course, but in this new NIL world is that what the SU athletic department wants.

Sad state of affairs that we are even having these discussions.

Everyone could see that Dwan was getting handled by Kirst and Petro.

I'm curious what's going on with Dwan this season, or at least the last month or so. He really seems to have regressed in these big match-ups, has been a bit rough in the clearing game and takes some really bad penalties.

As much as i agree with the sentiment that Gary ain’t it…

I would be extremely disappointed if anything done or said by Joe Spallina had anything to do with a head coaching change.

He’s a nut job that shouldn’t be taken seriously when determining the men’s head coaching position at SU.

Joe Spallina has as much input as u or me in Gaits job status. It's a non factor.

I'm "assured" by those who know this stuff better than I do that even if we lose to ND we're most likely Bubble In. The only thing that would prevent that is if either Rutgers wins the B1G tournament of Yale wins the Ivy tournament. They tell me otherwise we're in even if Army loses the Patriot AQ as Army's metrics would be significantly worse than ours. HOWEVER, I refuse to believe the committee wouldn't put in a 13-2 or 14-2 Army over a 9-6 SU; the Metics be damned.

But on the other hand - if we lose to ND Friday, just put us all out of our misery and leave us out.

Regardless of what happens on Friday and Sunday night, I think it is likely many, particularly those in the junior class, will bail to go to a team that has a better chance of making the FF and winning the Natty than we apparently do. Joe Spallina won't raise heck because, as was hinted (or said) on this board last summer, his oldest son is planning to, or is likely to, portal out after this season.

I was told by a reliable source before Gary was hired that many lacrosse alumni were opposed to his hiring for this job to the point of saying "it will never happen". If they still feel that way (and why wouldn't they) I wonder what they're telling ADJW now.

If Army loses in the Patriot title game I think they will get in over SU if they lose to ND and I wouldn't blame the committee at all.

I had heard similar including from a very good source. In retrospect they were right
