The three batter minimum is helpful too. It used to be ridiculous, particularly during the postseason, having a pitching change after every batter in late innings.

I'm too lazy to look it up, but the times of games has been noticeably reduced.

I understand the beauty and the poetry that baseball can bring, but 162 games plus four layers of playoffs makes for a huge time commitment.

At one time, I used to love it, but never more than the NFL. Three and a half hours of games a week, with so much at stake. But, I do like the new wild card system in baseball. Theoretically, lots of meaningless games during the season, but it's amazing how many teams were involved in game 162 this year.
