Yasin Willis transferring to Kansas

Seeing MCW at the game last night reminded of how nice it is to have guys come back who have been here their entire career. Same thing with other similar guys who return to visit. That's going to be more and more rare with the transfer portal with so many jumping around from year to year.

The sad part is our Offensive line did open up some lanes. Nixon and Tylik had some big runs because of those holes. My seats are in the end zone and the amount of times I saw Yasin just run straight into our Olineman, instead of side stepping and running through the hole that was right next to him was maddening. RBs are replaceable.

Not sure why people are saying this isn't a loss.
Mad Men Not Great Bob GIF
The board scouts have .000 batting average lol

The players are home with their families, and having real discussions. I am sure there is some family influences, and a different way of thinking then while at SU and with their teammates. And yes, the offers are flowing.
Running back is probably the easiest position to fill. Look at Tylik Hill a three star unheralded running back who came in and showed what he could do as a true freshman. I’m more concerned with our offensive line development. We’ll get a good running back from the portal

Yup. There are elite RBs and then there are non elite running backs. Willis doesn't have the speed, quickness or vision to be elite. Yes it's not great to lose more depth but I guess I'm missing what some believe makes this detrimental.

It is a big loss, it’s stupid to not to see that. Yasin has all the potential in the world to be an All American (yes I think that highly of his potential) running back as long as he stays healthy, plays smart, and has good blocking. For us, it’s also an opportunity for a big gain in the portal.

This makes me realize how special LQA was.

This kid was treated so damn badly by this University at one point and all he wanted to do was stay at Syracuse.
LQA is an amazing young man. And just an incredible football player. Just a kid who's born to play the game. I'm rooting for the Jags now. He just wants to win.

Again, we cant’t shrug off everyone. At some point not everyone is going to be adequately replaced via the portal.

Depth matters. Gotta find a way to retain some of it.

Yeah, it's really not good. Lost 3 RBs. The room now consists of a 6th year player awaiting a waiver, who's an average RB at best. 3 lightly recruited players and a converted WR or DB, all of whom will be in their first or second year on campus and have almost zero playing experience.

Throw a big bag at that UConn RB, and one other and I'll feel much better, as will the staff I assume.

Mass exodus! Team was 3-9 last year with one of the worst offenses in the country the last 8 games. Not exactly the stuff dreams are made of if you’re an offensive position player. Can’t blame any WR or RB for leaving. Angeli making a return weak one isn’t a given either. It’s crazy how quickly this team went from building something to a disaster in 8 games.

This isn't a depth loss, it is by far our best RB. Even if we do replace him (which IMO won't be easy), we have nothing else there. That should be a concern.

IMO we needed to bring in a RB to pair with Wiillis. Now what?
