Yes, Getting Ahead of Myself - Sobering thought re Louisville

Looks like its time for a win and we get two shots at it...bring em on!!

Yikes. Didn't realize it was that bad although I knew it was bad. Time to make a statement.

Here's what I think of playing there (excerpt from my response in the Announcer@Louisville thread)

Number Two: 2) Second place goes to the Dumb Dumb center, and this place does have a strange announcer. The Ville is too good a program to fit the "king for a day" label. It has talented players and new digs. But there is no shortage of weird stuff. First, Pitino comes out in an all-white 2-piece more befitting a king of fried chicken than a university coach. Then, the payers are introduced with glaring pro-style spotlights, and the announcer sounds like he's auditioning for the pistons. Moments after tipoff (Louisville always wins these), every player on the team except the center starts shooting, and hitting, threes. This process continues until all the bench players and walk-ons have logged career nights. Flush with fat (but uncharacteristic) leads, starters prance out of the game with 8 minutes left so they can point to their parents and high-five the ballboys. 3 weeks later they loose to the first decent team they play in the tournament.

Just once I wish we got UL in January before Pitino gets them straightened out. Seems like we always get them late in the year after they've fallen apart and then put it all back together, gets their team healthy and are just tearing teams apart.

That said we won't lose to them 2x this year, but it won't be easy.

They looked REALLY good against Uconn, but then again...what team doesn't look really good against Uconn these days?

Let's hope, after Saturday, the answer isn't "Syracuse."

I hate talking smack and assuming we will win against anyone, but especially such a talented (if disjointed) team as UConn. They could easily put it together Saturday and make us look absurd for expecting an easy win.

One of the guys on Sirius XM made a good point about that game. He pretty much said you can't use it to gauge how good Louisville is because UConn was THAT BAD. UConn gave up in the second half.

The way I look at it is this: Louisville is still a team that struggles to score points when Kuric is not on his game. They only scored 80 on UConn when they should have dropped 100.

Louisville is still very much a flawed team. I know we've had our share of crappy moments as well, but Siva and Kuric are not going to press us and run us out of the gym. They have to slow the game down to have a chance. Don't think that Kuric is going to get the same open looks against us that he did against UConn. He won't. JB will let that ball go to the middle all day and let Fab take care of Dieng. Louisville has always has the match-up advantage on us. Always an outside threat and always a guy in the middle who could hit the short jumper and draw the D. Fab is going to neutralize that middle and turn Louisville into a one dimensional team. And there is no way that Siva and Kuric can handle our guards.

Haha but Kuric is always on his game against Syracuse.

Difference with the current SU team vs Louisville? Depth. I just remember SU being run down over the course of games with UL. Not this time.

And what does the result of previous year's games have to do with this year?

Oh, that's right, it allows us "to have a bad feeling about this game."

Ahhh, can always count on Orange in Boston to piss in the cornflakes. You are nothing if not predictable good sir.

If we don't beat them this year we will probably never beat them.

I hear that! I think this may be our biggest challenge, our senior leadership has all lost to L'ville - never beat them. That's a heck of a thing to overcome.

This.

I will be a a very foul mood next Tuesday if Syracuse can't beat a team that lost to Providence by 30.
