the QB has absolutely no experience being in these situations, and because the Offensive Coordinator lost his mind for a while. But, that was the first time in a long while that the team looked like a legitimate ACC team. And that with a zillion true freshmen playing. Add some experienced OL & DL via JUCO/transfer, get some injured players back, and it may speak well for next year.

You know you're going to get blasted for saying anything positive about the team or coaching staff?
There is almost nothing positive to say there aren’t you tried stickers in the ACC

Great game. Fun to watch. wishing we could have made something happen last 45 seconds but I wish they would have scored from 20 yards out. Brutal from the 8-9 in with these limitations.

NC st QB throws a great ball and the NC St receivers made ton of plays

So basically get a whole new offense

based on the reaction here they would have been getting blasted as expected

They didn't throw a single pass into the end zone.

I said this at the time when we were at the 20 we should have taken four shots at the endzone. Instead we threw short to Benson on 1st down, then no sure what was designed as that was the almost INT throw away. That was followed by the underneath 3rd down pass the Taj ran for the 1st down. IMO taking four deep shots was our best chance.

Take four shots in the end zone. If it gets picked off it’s easier to live with.

he is a Sr. QB

I feel like knowing what down it is probably is something you may learn as a sophomore at the latest anyway...

Also Rex is only a 5th year senior so, he’s doesn’t have a lot of experience. He’s still green

As the OP hints, this game wasn't a disaster ... only the ending was. People are frustrated because NC-St is so easy to hate, and we had a chance to beat them. That's what made the last-minute confusion so disappointing ... that we were this close to a win against a top-4 conference foe featuring big WR's and a mobile QB with a live arm - and just couldn't get it done.

Oddly, we defended the run better than the pass. They had one chunk play called back. Other than that, their longest gain was 14 yards. Although we struggled to tackle Knight, overall we "held" their RB's to (roughly) a 4 ypc average and 174 total (25 yards under our average). That's the good news. The bad news is that our secondary got lit up for 313 and 4 TD's ... most of them on 3d-down interior completions or pin-point end zone passes. One TD was a busted coverage (Cole). But the others we were in good position and they made the plays. We sacked Hockman 6 times but on plenty of occasions he had all day and made us pay.

On offense, I thought our OL protected pretty well and I liked the rollouts and empty sets. Those were effective as Rex hit Queeley, C-J, NJ and Taj for 254 on 50+% completion rate and 2 TD's (no INT's). However, we went nowhere on the ground and run-blocking was epicly bad. You have to feel for Tucker .. who's a really good back that deserves a chance. And he never got past State's DL. We're getting worse on the ground, not better. Hopefully it's due to injuries and not the chronic lack of size and talent we've faced on the DL.

I feel that was a complete lack of coaching. Hs kids know what to do in them situations. Rex should have seen this situation a 100 x bye now in practice. All coaching. As they say u either teach it that way or u allow it to happen. Either way it’s on coaches.
