I was amazed at the energy of thousands walking up to the game today. Orange was everywhere. Smiles on every face. In response, we got a Greg Robinsonesque performance from the team and the defense in particular. Can Fran Brown assess his defensive staff the way a head coach has to? Robinson is obviously his blood brother. His preparation of his unit today was downright unforgivable. In no way am I suggesting now is the time to cut him but what if it continues?

This is why the townies don’t show up with regularity. I know he wants to get butts in the seats, but he can’t allow the team to lay eggs like this after the hype starts to take hold. He’ll be lucky to get 30k for the next home game.
This type of game has happened too many times after good wins over the last 15 years

Exactly. I know we all support the program but honestly the fanbase gets punched in the face repeatedly with these “event” games. Not all on Fran obviously as he just arrived, but this is why the calls of “the community needs to step up!” sometimes ring really hollow…

Uncanny. Just insane.
In fairness, the circumstances of this particular momentum-crippling loss were different than usual. Having to play a clear overmatched QB in a system that has only functioned with great QB play the prior 16 games was a likely recipe for disaster. And now we see how truly bad this D can be when they don’t have an offense who can score repeatedly from anywhere on the field.

So at least it was a different kind of suck than we’ve become accustomed to!

Despite all the factors coming into today. It’s fine to just throw up your hands and call it what it was: today was awful and really sucked. No other way to put it. We’ve been here before and a reaction as a fan base tends to be apathy. That apathy I’m sure has a somewhat direct correlation to making a situation worse. My only message after today is when making recommendations on how to fix things is to think long term, does this short term fix gets us closer to not only having the opportunity to compete for a national championship, but win a national championship.

Suck variety is not a virtue.

Fran’s biggest mistake so far has been mixing family with business. Robinson needs to go. A good performance every 4 games isn’t going to get it done. Especially when Nixon leaves.
I lije jeff but he put up 3 points today, I think we can put the nixon leaving on hold.

Didn’t even give them a chance to get into the game either. Even the opening kickoff was a bad SU fielding decision.

Too bad. Everything pointing to next year.
Fran took responsibility for the kick-off and punt return issues. He said he didn’t prepare Hart to the level he needed to play effectively. That’s why the rotation he has going can’t continue. You need experienced players in those positions. You can’t keep using ST to shuttle new guys in and out just to get them playing time. Hart looked like he had no clue at all.
