Completely agree, but to miss so bad on the evaluation of Collins, IMHO, is inexcusable. To pay whatever his NIL, was absurd, especially when he had no game experience. What could they have been watching to pull the trigger on that deal? You're right that pro GM's miss too, but they can absorb the dollar hit.

It’s not “inexcusable”. It sucks and it’s bad, but it happens. It’s not the money, it’s that we have absolutely nothing behind Collins. We’ve had to turn to QB3 before, and sometimes we’ve found a Zach Mahoney type who can at least function at the position. This year we have no one who can remotely play QB aside from Angeli. It’s incredible.

It is inexcusable. You made my point. How do you know there's nobody behind Angelli that's remotely capable? They throw a walk on in last week . Then put the NIL guy back in today knowing he can't do the job.

I had a boss years ago who used to say people were going to make mistakes - they needed to recover and not make it a habit. If your expectation is the football coach of your team will never make a mistake - prepare to be disappointed in every coach on the planet.

Reality was recovering from the QB mistake wasn’t going to happen this year. So Fran needs to recover next year, and not make whiffing on the QB a habit.

I get this is unbelievably bad right now - but some fans really need to get a grip.

Completely agree with your post. I'm with Fran all the way. Was just commenting on a big miss on Collins. And still say It was the money why Collins played all the time. The people who are jumping off the Fran wagon I think are nuts. Anyone who can recruit the guys he's getting to Syracuse will find a way to get the coaches he needs to turn this thing around.

The real X factor in this game is Carson Beck protected the football, was able to get the ball to his playmakers with space, and we couldn’t do those two things above.

Thing is, Fran *did* recover from the QB mistake! He got Angeli after the spring game. That was a huge recovery and could have netted us a half-way decent season.

Again, the issue, which is hard to address admittedly, is that not only didn’t we have a good QB2, we didn’t have a good QB 3 or QB 4.

Pasqualoni was literally on the field with Freeney when he got his number retired. He got a standing ovation. Things are fine with him and SU.
