The Big East is like a journey-woman divorcee at a rotary club. Gonzaga had car trouble getting there and she's already skipping courtship.

This is getting comical. The only thing that would top it is if and when Hawaii joins the BE. They should rename it "The conference of misfit toys"

Rumors are circulating that Newt Gringrich just opened a University on his lunar base, they are scheduled to announce tomorrow that they will be joining the Big East for track & field, exclusively in the triple jump.

Maybe they can pull in the University of Singapore and call it the Far East

For me the more comical part is that while there is speculation about bringing in more basketball onlies, the basketball onlies are plotting to leave.

What would really be great is if the Catholic coalition all left and the Big East survied with Memphis, San Diego State, USF, UConn, Navy, SMU, Houston, Boise State, Cincy, Temple, Central Florida, Tulane, East Carolina and Gonzaga. I also think it would be great if Stephen F. Austin could worm their way into the discussion some how.

Gonzaga is an awkward spot conference wise. While the East / Mid-West has a number of quality non-football schools that offers various permutations for basketball conferences, the west really does not have many such schools.
