vcu geniuses are sure he's going there because his twitter "location" as of a few days ago apparently showed Richmond - there you have it folks, it was fun while it lasted

Well that does seal it. After all in this day of covered wagons there is just no way to get ALL the way from Richmond to a distant land like Central NY in less than a months time

They are struggling just like we are trying to understand what is going on. As with most fan bases - they are taking shots at our program, our "information" or our takes on things. With Jake weighing in that he thinks this is solid for Syracuse, we know the weight that carries, they don't of course. Many of them are reading our posts here and looking for anything to poke holes at. They read our banter over here and see it as "back peddling" or whatever - I'm still highly confident as most are and nothing has really changed, just the oddity of the wait.

Them looking to pick apart everything they see here is fairly natural because the brain works that way. They want AW3 so they instinctively try to minimize or reject any information that may be contrary to them getting him. Of course nothing any of us says on any of these forums has any impact on the outcome so it is a big nothing that they are bothered about. They've recently devolved into the standard "Syracuse is a dirty program that cheats" platitudes, also pretty expected from them. Of course none of them knows the details of anything they are accusing the program or JB of, but it matters not. When AW3 does announce for Syracuse, expect a pretty strong spasm of the cheating stuff to come back up.

VCU has definitely increased their national stature in basketball over the past 10 years but the the reality is they are going up against an all-time top 10 program here. It is tough for them to get their minds wrapped around that. One or two guys there are pretty realistic about going up against something like Syracuse for a recruit. The most dramatic thing about this situation to me is that anything they have to link to is all created by Syracuse news outlets, bloggers, fan tweets, etc. There either doesn't exist such an infrastructure around the VCU program or it has been totally silent.

What did it say before? It still says Richmond.

FWIW, but not that it applies to athletes necessarily, new students move in today and tomorrow. Returning students move in Fri-Sun.

Well, "Cuse insiders" are wrong. White hasn't signed or enrolled, thus Boeheim can't talk about him.

White could end up coming to SU and everyone will say "See? I told ya.'' But he has not signed/enrolled at this point.

In fairness, if you are going to characterize their fan base based on your assessment of a handful of posters, then Syracuse fan base is certainly open to a lot of criticism as well. VCU has a fantastic, loyal and knowledgeable fan base, whether that shows on the forums or not.

That's a strange reaction to my post which specifically talks about their message board only and is pretty fair with understanding the reasons for their behavior. At least I thought so. Oh well.

I mentioned this and was called crazy.
It was never crazy. It is an option. He has to figure out whether he wants to take a shot at the NBA after a year with a solid top ten team or go overseas and get paid immediately or go to VCU.

Contingency planning: When is the absolute latest he could arrive on campus? Let's pretend there is never an announcement, and he intends to just show up on campus and start workouts and classes. When is the latest he could travel from Richmond to Syracuse? A couple weeks into classes? Add/Drop deadline?
