Blast from the past

Sometimes I like to use You-Tube as a time machine and watch vintage stuff from decades ago. I was looking at old news reports and found this excerpt from Huntley-Brinkley, the NBC nightly news report from 1/6/59. the thing that jumped out at me was that from 7:40-8:10 we hear the voice of Fred Hillegas, our local NBC anchor man of the time, describing something that happened in Syracuse, although I'm not quite sure what:
