Hey Extreme have you come across any articles quoting Desko on the game? Only thing I have seen so far is him going into some BS about how the kids came out "to excited". Was hoping to at least hear him take some blame for that disaster.
too excited? who the bryant kids?, because they looked ready to play and our guys looked flat, asleep and played like they thought it would be a cakewake.
I read a quote where Desko said. "They had a good game plan. Hats off to them."
In other words, their game plan was better than our game plan.

Other than throwing in some zone, I don't really think it was game play, they out executed us. They won more faceoffs, their goalie and defense played much better than we did.
They used a great defensive strategy that played to their strength (their goalie). They had 6 defenders packed within 12 yards of the crease the only outside shots making it through that would need a vapor trail. They used a short stick to shade toward Rice and hound him on the wing and kept a longstick on Staats when he had the ball at X.
They knew that if they stayed home and packed it in on D then SU's offense would have to either weave passes/shots through 3 defensive sticks or dodge into a waiting double team already in position due to the zone.
They executed the strategy to perfection - many teams would've struggled as much as SU's offense did.

EDIT - anybody shooting from up top was looking into 3-4 black jerseys. The only shooting lanes with fewer than 3 defenders in a shooters face were on the wings. Bryant was happy to give Rice and Donahue those shots because they had 2 defenders and bad angles supporting their outstanding goalie. SU took the bait and couldn't finish because those shots have the slimmest margin for error.

I haven't seen Bryant play at all this year, missed the first game we played them, have they been playing that defense often, or just against us?
I haven't watched Bryant at all this year but I'd guess that they haven't used that defense exclusively throughout the year.

Agree with everything you said but this kind of D is taylor made for a kid like Walters. He should have played and played a lot.
Bryant played zone last year against Syracuse for a decent portion of the game, this should have been no surprise at all to Desko and the staff.
That is not their base D. They played man to man against Siena in the NEC final.
I agree but if the SU defense executed half as well as Bryan'ts D in the second half then SU would've had many more opportunities to crack the Bryant zone.
