Well, there’s an actual definition for overpaying, too. It’s literally, “pay (someone) too highly.”

Paying someone too high based on your own perceived value of that player.

You don’t understand…… nobody overpays. Everything is market value. If a billionaire in Dubai pays $500 for a Twix because he’s hungry. Everyone is going to pay $500 for a Twix. That’s the new market value.
Why would you pay 500 for a twix when you can go to 711 and get one for a buck fifty? Market value is still a buck fifty because there are millions of product.

But a good portal center is a scarcity, especially at this stage. thats why the increased pay is market value.

Is there only 1 Twix? Or like 100 Twix?

Or unlimited?

There’s not many big time college centers. So not sure what you are saying here is equivalent. Think more of a baseball card market. If someone wants to pay for the card, that’s what it’s worth. If no one does, it’s not worth anything

I’ll let phil77 explain it

I didn't respond because I assumed he was joking around and not being serious with the comparison :-/

SMU’s really gonna use Syracuse to get in the ACC and then show up to the Dome with the guy our coach built around and beat us by 20

If you think about it - these programs knew Lampkin well, yet never pulled the trigger while he was in the portal. Out of desperation they now are turning to him, they weren’t counting on him, scheming for him, until their preferred options chose elsewhere. Rather insulting despite the $ being thrown at him.

Lamkin would have provided something our teams have lacked for a long time -- strong a$$ low post scoring, and physical rebounding.

But he isn't irreplaceable, from an overall talent perspective.

The problem is, there might not be enough prospects out there of quality at THIS point of the offseason who could fill the vacancy adequately.

So this hurts.

Doesn’t really matter unless the check clears right? $500k to $750k is a 50% increase

Carey's at Siena for a reason. I'm no huge Anselm fan but your acting like we're talking about Sean Williams or Hima.
It‘s a pointless move and waste of a roster spot he’s a senior who’s never improved. At least Carey had 3 years left. He’ll take us from 18 losses to 17 losses. This obsession with a real center is absurd and why we are here with a garbage roster.
