Limited seating, masks, temperature checks? What can SU football fans expect at the Carrier Dome this fall

I think you're gonna get between 5-10k at the dome. timed entry to a specific gate only like an amusement park and of course a mask 100% of the time. The AD might as well send those with tickets an SU mask to wear at the game.

Im curious to see how many fans we have that want to attend a game under those conditions. I certainly don’t. Doesn’t sound like a fun time at all.

i think it will be whatever the season ticket holders that want to go to games at most, with a chance that each season ticket holder can only go to 3 games. You could do 2 different packages of 3 games as even as possible or go by rank:
A: Liberty , FSU, Georgia Tech
B: Colgate, NC State, Louisville

They will limit the crowd size.

10k max. Or only family friends students staff family and " invited press.
The money is in Television. The bottom line is the schools cant miss a season. Fans or no fans.

I hate to write this; but I think we should look to experts. As far as limited fans in the stands, Rutgers is the expert. I don’t think they were masks though. (Some might where bags over their heads.)

Going up in various arenas/hotels/casinos/etc
Cool stuff, FCC approval recently

that is really cool. It’s certainly better than nothing but I worry about the reliance on temperatures. If 40% or more of the people with the virus are asymptomatic, that population won’t have a temperature. So at best that system will only detect 60% of those infected.

plan on also random crowd testing, hopefully but fall they have those 5 min tests rolling.

Certainly a small piece of the puzzle! I believe 5G + AI will take a big leap here. Hoping for the best, private sector is building up the infrastructure for a "revised workplace".

As much as I hate to admit it, I'd prefer if the NFL/CFB came out and said no fans. Attending games in person is fun due to the tailgates, seeing your friends, and being with the crowd. In a scenario without these things, where safety is a primary concern; frankly I'd just rather not attend at all.

There literally is no reason for college football without fans even limited.
These kids don’t get paid. The schools shouldn’t make them endanger their lives for TV contracts the players get none of that revenue.

The NFL makes between 30 and 35% of their revenue from gates at stadiums they can survive a year without fans and still be profitable.

They should just say no fans but Goodell and those owners are too greedy to do that and want people to pay for seats till they don’t have to.

The "kids" are auditioning for their next job. And the dangers of smashing into each other in 110 degree summer heat might be greater to their long term (or short term) health than the dangers of COVID (for the athletes).

It all just sounds like an enormous hassle, with everyone being all spooked(rightfully so). The opposite of what I’m looking for at a game.

My concern is SARS C2-positive fans. It's inevitable a percentage will be present. Even if all adults are mask-compliant in the seating area (unlikely) kids aren't going to wear masks. Adult masks will also be off during eating and drinking. So unless SU's going to create a negative-pressure environment in the Dome with constant disinfectant misting, it's basically a 4-hour covid bath. I'm still evaluating ... but the risk is not miniscule.

I have probably missed it, but are they going to refund money to season ticket holders if they decide not to attend this year? I paid up my football and bball tickets months ago, and am feeling pretty pessimistic right now about attending. :(

Agreed. I'm fully confident that things will work out with my ST for SU, but I have a feeling that I am in for a hassle with my Bills tickets.

Masks are great, for a variety of reasons -- so don't get me wrong I am very pro mask. I will let you do your own research, but they shouldn't be counted on for long term protection.

If what I witnessed at Dulles airport yesterday is any indication, not many people will feel spooked. We are a country of mostly imbeciles who apparently believe rules and guidelines don't apply to ourselves and therefore, selfishly, do as we please. I witnessed people with masks askew, mouths and noses exposed, queuing up tightly, not ceding any space when someone is approaching in a tight space, etc.
I want football and I might very well attend wearing a mask and following whatever guidelines SU puts out. But I have to shake my head at the idiocy I see from people in the news and in person.

Syracuse University Athletics Season Ticket Refund Policy (Updated April 24, 2020):
Syracuse University Athletics PLANS ON HOSTING sporting events for the upcoming 2020-21 academic year. However, as preparations are underway, due to the uncertain nature of COVID-19, game schedules ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE. In the event that any games are canceled due to COVID-19 and not rescheduled, or if games are played under conditions that prohibit fans from attending, season ticket holders will have the following options with respect to both the face value of the ticket(s) for the impacted game(s) and the contribution portion of their original purchase:
  1. Donate the prorated value to the Orange Club in support of Syracuse Athletics;
  2. Have the prorated value applied as a credit toward their purchase of 2021-22 season tickets for the same sport; or
  3. Get a prorated refund to their original method of payment. The prorated value will also include processing fees paid by the ticket holder if the entire season is canceled.

There does not seem to be a current policy on what happens if fans decide to take the year off and want a full refund.

im right there with you. If I can’t tailgate with you I don’t even want to go to the game.

How is that. 6x less likely to virus if wearing mask. It is a reality until treatments/vaccine are available. The evidence of the benefit of wearing masks increases daily it seems.
