Texas A&M boosters paying $30M NIL

But it's pretty obvious that the biggest booster checks are aimed at securing or rewarding athletic performance ... i.e., compensating kids that boosters think will deliver team wins. And that is not the really NIL; it's 'pay-for-play'.
Being very good on the field, being famous and the value of that athlete's NIL are inextricably linked, though.

But being "very good on the field" is another way of describing performance, which cannot be compensated even under the current rules (pay for play). So the question (to my mind) is not how good they are on the field, but whether they have marketing value outside of the team concept: amazing looks, huge SM followings or even post-college draft potential. That's a much narrower value proposition - despite all the bloodthirsty boosters trying to buy talent.

Dude, you are way too hung up on this "having to prove yourself" thing.

Before friends Joey was in a ketchup commercial, Monica was in a music video, and Rachel was in Leprechaun 2.

That's the acting equivalent of AAU/EYBL ball.
Leprechaun 1
