The Tez Walker Saga...

I don’t know if he was considered ineligible as much as sitting out a year as a transfer. I believe transfers sitting out can practice.
Correct. What the NCAA ruled first was that because he had left two schools in which he had enrolled, he must sit out a year. But the first school at which he enrolled, he never played a game for, and in fact its entire season was canceled amidst talk of possibly downgrading or even killing the program.

His case was obvious from the start, but the NCAA was trying to cram one down UNC's throat. A bimbo from UGA was a key player.

Timing is not ideal but the real truth here is that SU should send some higher ups down to Chapel Hill and get a tutorial in dealing with the NCAA.
Michigan St too if we our next FB or BB hire and are into a bad coach for 50-100 mil I expect the AD to completely fabricate a situation that allows us to terminate for cause so we can throw that money at a new coach.

Not quite the entire story. He signed an NLI to a small Tennessee college back in 2019, got injured right before the season, decided to take a gap year at home in NC to rehab himself. He then decided not to return to that college (that held a scholarship for him) but decided to transfer to a different small college in his home state in NC. Covid then occurred and that college shut down football. The next season (2021) he didn’t return to that NC college that had shut down during Covid the previous year and went to Toledo where he played sparingly his first year. He returned to Toledo the next year (2022)and had an awesome breakout season and then entered the transfer portal committing to UNC leaving in the 2nd semester after Toledo’s season. It was much more convoluted than many of the narratives. True he didn’t play for 2 seasons but there were NIL’s involved with his previous 3 colleges- UNC is the 4th college he committed to in his 5 years despite not playing for 2 of the colleges he transferred from. I imagine all 3 of those Colleges were urged to support his attending the 4th college, UNC especially the small NC state school that cancelled their season. He owes a lot of thanks to Toledo for his career trajectory. Just a very strange, long, and rewarding journey for a very lightly recruited player out of high school.

Minor note that he went to Kent State and played for Sean Lewis, not Toledo.

My bad. Thanks for the correction. Bet it was another factor in the NCAA’s decision, that the head coach at Kent was leaving. Not the main reason but just another small factor in a crazy story.

Interesting timing with the Orange coming to Chapel Hill.. tomorrow.

But in the end, it always seems to work out.

We only have ourselves to blame for not experiencing the same thing. Our deep pockets don't care as much as yours.
UNC had to learn the hard way that bending over backwards to accommodate the NCAA only works if you are a Michigan or Ohio ST or PSU or SC or OU or Texas or some major SEC football power. The NCAA dances to their pipers, and they make the rest of us pay for it all.

“Of course it never fails”

Just seems to go with situations and cuse. That’s all.

We already know. You send film with a politely worded salutation asking them to please review the tape as there may have possibly been a slightly inconsistent decision by the incredibly gifted and well trained official.

No, okay we apologize for wasting your time.

Sean leaving is the only thing that made him not getting the initial waver odd. Well that and the school they seemingly said no to for once.

But NCAA gonna do its thing and keep him fresh for the heels just in time to play us!

Gameday said limited snaps for him today, we will see how that plays out
