What is wrong with jb

It must be really frustrating having people reporting on sports that don't know what they are talking about. I can't relate to that. By the way Bud Poliquin says hi.

" i don't think the ACC tournament will ever be a big deal as long as the location rotates."

ACC fans think it was a big deal long before syracuse arrived.

Hearing it a million times, doesn't make it true. People who have no concept of geography and no interest in learning don't get to make the rules. They're wrong.

Yep had a guy on another forum saying Boeheim just doesn't want to play games outside of NY. How many ACC schools are closer to NYC than us?

LOL, so backwards. So hold it in Greensboro where 4 schools are an hour or less away!

There's a good Syracuse alum base in NYC, and it's an easy city to get to but...4-5 hour drive isn't exactly right down the road.

Try UNC and Duke fans. I'm sure the Marylands, GT's, Virginia's, and FSU's didn't love going to Greensboro to get their brains beat in, in front of 90% UNC or Duke fans.

Throw in the two rounds of expansion, and the 7 new teams who joined and also couldn't care less about UNC and Duke's glory days of dominating in Greensboro.

Did anyone read on Syracuse.com where that one idiot writer(I believe from a Greensboro paper) said that the host school Syracuse lost in the first round? Host? LOL. He also said we haven't won an ACC tourney game since joining in 2011...only 3 years off. This is what we're dealing with.

The original article is linked in the daily articles here. The guy was salty for sure. It's from the Greensboro newspaper.

I've alway thought a leader was a person that spoke their mind regardless of what others felt. Is that not true anymore? I mean, so what if he rocked the boat, that's how changes for the better are often birthed.

Now that all of the major conference tournaments are televised, I am not really sure whether it matters anymore where they are played. As a fan, I am not going to tune into the Big East tournament because it is being played at MSG. Similarly, my (lack of) interest in the Atlantic 10 tourney has not changed since it went from Brooklyn to Pittsburgh. Being near a media hub was important in the '80s when there were limited media outlets and being close to them could mean additional coverage. Now, there are so many avenues to read, watch, learn about your favorite team, I do not think it matters.

In reality, there are only two issues that are important when choosing where to play a conference tournament: recruiting, and to a much lesser extent, fan experience.

The problem with number one is that it can be regional. Is playing in NYC (MSG or Barclay) matter to someone outside of the northeast? How much time do the kids get to enjoy what a larger city has to offer (this is not a rhetorical question, I do not know)? I would guess very little and the players mostly see a hotel room, bus and the stadium. How much harder and more expensive is it for a non-NE player's family and friends to come to the games? I think playing in an NBA arena is a plus, but unless you grow up a fan of the team or a player on the team, does it matter which NBA Arena to a 17 year trying to decide were to go to college? For Syracuse, it probably benefits recruiting playing in NYC or D.C. as the locations are near our traditional recruiting areas. For Clemson or Wake Forest, probably does little or nothing to assist in recruiting, but playing in North Carolina might.

The second issue is fan experience. There is no question that a large city has more to offer fans than a smaller one. I would much rather spend an extended weekend in NYC than in Greensboro. Again, however, this can be regional. Living in the Midwest, regardless of where the tournament is located, I would have to fly and would be stuck in the city/area of the tournament even if my team was a one and done. This would not be true of fans living near the tournament site. This could be a detriment to attendance of having the tournament further away, as would potentially having fans wanting to travel the next weekend as well for the NCAA games. The reason the Big East games at MSG were great was because so many school fanbases were able to pack the arena, the same reason ACC lifers probably fondly reflect on Greensboro. The size and geographic area of modern conferences no longer make this possible. Case in point, the only people I have heard positively discuss the location of the B1G tournament this year (DC) and next (MSG) are those that live nearby.

If it were up to me, I would have all of the conference tournaments played at casinos in Las Vegas. I could see both of my alma maters play and if they both were one and dones, I would plenty to do, including checking out other conference tourney games :)

Boeheim's about to be covered on Around The Horn, lol.

Really you trash Greensboro. Why. Im so disappointed in him. He comes across as a bitter mean spirited SOB.
This is the same guy who wrote me when my wife passed. Who raises significant money and awareness for the cancer fight. I don't get it. This is not our coach. I hate to see him like this. It truly saddens me as i know he is a great guy. Someone close to him needs to step up and help him. CTO...

Dude...we underachieved this season and you are dialed in on a statement about Dukes of Hazzard city which was wonderfully accurate?

Focus on the performance not the eloquence.

JB also mentioned DC and Atl. I'm sure that bozo didn't bother noticing that.

there are other things going on in Jim's life that are putting him though more "heck" then this team could

'nuff said

Not sure what everyone is all that mad about. JB is from the Northeast. People in/from Upstate NY are typically brutally honest people. It's not a matter of like/dislike, it's ingrained in our being. I will say that living in Northern Virginia, this has served my career very well.

Had JB dropped a "bless their heart" beforehand, everyone in the South would have been fine with what he said.

Unknowledgeable? Any time you have a large fanbase, you're going to get some that don't have a clue. On a much larger scale, the Lakers, Yankees, Cowboys, etc. have a huge number of these types.

I think overall the Syracuse basketball fanbase is pretty good.
no, not really.

it is a positively skewed distribution. JB is way, way out on the tip of the tail while most of us are well to the left of the mean. I can count on my fingers the number of active forum members who are to the right of the mean. Mason, Igor, maybe a couple others.

Does Igor even exist anymore? I haven't seen that guy in at least 6 months.

How is Igor's position on this graph affected by his talking up of Ethan Cole? Is he docked a couple centimeters to the left for that?
