Will Boeheim win another title?

He doesn't recruit shooters. He recruits personnel that fits his zone D. Please tell me how many shooters this team has on it. Christ, he won't let anyone even play if they don't know his zone. Coney would be a lot better if he played on a team that had shooters. On SU he's the only one so he has to run ten miles every game trying to get open for his six shots on the run. All teams know this so they pack the paint shorten the game and no matter how their athletes stack up against SU they are in the game and eventually given the number of games they are played this way they win. SU had how many games that went to the wire and either won or lost a close game. Only Va beat SU convincingly. How many times we all would like to see SU beat up teams early and win convincingly. Yeah the recruiting is rated high but we lose to so many teams that dont have the same quality athletes. But the zone keeps it close and our athletes can't shoot. It's a three point game now and you recruit and play d and o accordingly. PS Gmac played how many years ago and who did he play with. Drink the kool aid.
If SU basketball makes you so miserable, why follow?

We are the classic A-/B+ team. We are always a contender, but I have no faith in the foreseeable future we will win another NC. This season CBB was down and we slogged our way thru a season where we had a chance if we played well, but saw no change. I don't expect another title unless we get another Melo like talent.

I agree. If it's going to take having the best player in college bball to win the whole thing, then the odds are not good that Boeheim's going to get it done.

Why not. Our seeds in the NCAA Tourney the past 6 years have been (3,1,3,1,4,3). If Coach goes another 4-5 years I think we get at least one more FF and once you're in the FF anything can happen.

Ouch.

Six top 4 seeds.

1 Final 4.

No titles.

Will Bill Self or Roy Williams win another title?

How about Tom Izzo?

I'm not writing off Boeheim or saying he should retire

BUTTTTTTT

He blew it this year, i think we all know that deep, deep down.

Here's to next year!

I bleed Orange thru and thru if I had to bet my life on who will a national next between Self, Williams, Izzo, Boeheim then I would pick JB at BEST 3rd and probably 4th behind Self if I was honest.
Roy has 2 NC and 5 Final Fours since 2000.
Izzo has 1 NC and 4 Final Fours since 2000 every 4 year player at Michigan State has made the Final Four.
Self has 1 NC and 2 Final Fours since 2000
JB has 1 NC and 2 Final Fours since 2000.

I love JB but he has underachieved in March more than he has overachieved. We went from 1980 till 2010 before we were a 1 seed. 2010 hurts because with AO I truly believe we win the NC or atleast play Duke for it.

I think I understand the point of the question, but in reality, for every coach in America, it is more likely that they will NOT win another Championship than it is that they will. That includes Coach K, Calipari, Pitino, Izzo, and JB. It's very hard to win.

It doesn't bother me much that JB "only" has 1 Championship, but I do wish we went to the Final 4 more than once per decade.

this wuz the year. great starting five and great depth. he didn't play some big contributors. he only played his ninth option, keita. what would have Patterson done for a normal coach

This is hysterical.

I asked him the exact same question this morning in another thread in response to yet another of his rambling rants.

It's really hard to assemble all the pieces at one time. You usually must have an ultra elite player surrounded by a cast of very good role players. There are exceptions from time to time like last year's UL which just had several very good players but not an NBA star. Many think a team has to have at least 2 -3 future NBA players. Several years SU has had the role players but not the big star NBA talent to carry the team to the top. If the timing worked out to have both Waiters and MCW at the same time maybe but that's what makes it so hard. JB doesn't seem to go after those big star types and so it's a long shot we win another NC.

You do realize that they were here at the same time when MCW was a freshmen right? Some will argue that he wasn't ready or whatever reason he didn't get major minutes down the stretch.

I am going to say I doubt JB wins another one, and it's hard for me to accept, but the reality is that some of the perception of our teams are reality. Unlike some, I really don't have the real answer why, I just keep seeing familiar patterns with occasional good results. If our routine average is one final four per decade than we got 9 years to go for another visit, will he be here? If so, than maybe.

I wil
Fate is fickle. JB is 3-4 seconds away from the NC in '87 & an extremely unfortunate devastating injury in '10 from most likely another. I certainly think JB can attain that second NC, as long as our recruiting stays strong...

I will say it again, it is almost as is people on this board do not understand variance.

1. Malachi Richardson for 2015 (top 25sg)-Supposedly a shooter
2. Tyler Lydon for 2015 (Will be top 50 wing)-Prototypical wing for the zone.

I'm not a big fan of Lydon. I think's he's going to be like Cooney his first year and get blown off the court by the speed of play at the next level.

I am very excited about Malachi. He may be what we've been missing in terms of a solid 3-point threat.

Do you mean "variance" as in statistics? Success of Orange basketball per year is too small of a sample. When I play craps at the casino, there are many times where my best success comes from winning 4/10 bets! One time a guy took one look at me rolling and put $100 on Don't Pass with the 4 being point. I then went on a 30 minute roll and ended with me getting the point! With all his fancy cloths I ended up with his money!

If Grant and Ennis stay. If KJ2 is any good. And if McColl can do some damage. And with Roberson more confident. And Paterson taking over Cooney's position. Then maybe we have a chance.

I wonder if Patterson somehow did something to get on the coach's bad side and his lack of PT was punishment.

I'm excited about Malachi also. But he's less of a 3 point threat than Cooney.

If anyone took over Cooney's spot, it would be G.

Why would he need to be in a doghouse. JB doesn't play three 2G's.

Exactly why I don't think he gets another one.

That remains to be seen, but Malachi has a reputation for hitting dagger 3's ,game winning shots and definitely wants the ball at crunchtime. Those are qualities to get excited about for sure.
