103rd in passer rating against fbs

is BC the team that gave FSU a game or the team that lost to NiLL and Holy Cross should have beat. 5 one score games make a team hard to read.

I get it but bad losses aren’t always the indicator of how well teams will do against evenly matched opponents. SU has flaws but so do the rest of the teams on their schedule.
Sure, I agree with that. I look at VT and think their roster is closer to the top teams in the league than it is to SU. Same for PITT. BC is looking like they have got things going and their QB is a game breaker. Very hard to see SU winning in Atlanta. Wake is trying to get their QB up to Hartman's level in their offense, he seems close. Anyone who thinks Syracuse can dominate these teams is delusional. IMO, best case 2 wins.

86th in attempts per game -- Shrader
92 last year -- Shrader
117 in '21 -- Shrader
75 in '20 -- Culpepper (mostly)
48 in '19 -- DiVito
37 in '18 -- Dungey
4 in '17 -- Dungey (mostly)
6 in '16 -- Dungey (mostly)
110 in '15 -- Dungey/Mahoney

Not too difficult to figure this out. They don't trust Shrader to throw. Not the best trait in a 3 year starter.

Syracuse has zero quality wins and three humiliating loses against quality teams.

The Clemson loss wasn't humiliating.

The UNC and FSU games were for sure. Lose to either of them 31-14 (where their TDs were based on our mistakes more than anything else) and I'd be feeling better about our chances down the stretch.

Curious on how much Purdue game planned for Gadson? Every team from that game knows he isn't playing so they can target who they seem most worthy.

We looking at rosters or actual production/wins on the field? Can we lose to VT? sure but there is nothing on VT that scares me. They have transfer wr's that are ok. RB's are just ok. They cant stop the run. None of those teams played Clemson, UNC and FSU in a row. You get more from watching the games, the schemes and match ups. I watched VT and BC 3 times, Pitt and Wake twice and GT vs Wake. For instance Wake out gained them but had 5 TO's. That's why they lost 30-16. They all have flaws.

In my mind, next year is the test. Go get a transfer you trust to throw the ball or else we have to go find someone else who will do that

Devito ate the ball a lot so it probably would have been more passes if he got rid of it

The same is true from GS but we are so far down the list, sacks can't get blamed

Agreed. CDRW ain't the guy. They need to go get an athletic thrower via the portal. Desperately.

And BC had a close loss to FSU that is heavily negated by losing to NIU and having to pull three games out in the last minute against the murderers row that is Army/BC/UVA. I don’t think we are that good, but I KNOW they suck

All I know their team is fighting hard in every game. I can also say that I would not like UNI in an opening game or scheduling Holy Cross at all, both are dangerous. They played Army in a driving rain which really helped Army.

They are playing hard. That is the key to the rest of our season, to me it’s that simple. We play like 2019 SU, we are toast. If we play hard like the first 4 games this year we will be ok.

But they are the ones that wouldn’t let Lamson compete for a starting job. Or you know, go out and try to get a transfer QB. They stuck with status quo and ran off a potential future starter.

They did this to themselves.

Beck is handcuffed and I believe still has potential. But, can’t say I’m not very disappointed with the way the last 3 games played out.

Does it matter that Lamson is a 48% passer at Stanford?

Nobody ran anyone off.

He's definitely athletic. Shrader is a fast QB when he gets moving and elusive in the pocket because of his size and athleticism, but to me it seems he's much slower in the pocket than you'd guess based on the speed he can get to in the open field, if that makes sense.
Takes him awhile to go from 0 to 60. Slow acceleration.

But once he gets going, he’s fast.

So the guy that didnt want to stay and compete was the answer this season?

Lamson is completing 48% of his passes, barely gets to throw, has 0 TDs, and runs for 2 yards a carry.

Who cares?

Shrader is a good athlete but probably should have been a tight end. That’s what the SEC team thought to. Losing Tucker is bigger than people think to he was the focal point of our offense and took a lot of pressure off of Shrader. We just stink
