103rd in passer rating against fbs

BC was (and is) awful. We only needed to generate a little offense last year against BC to beat them.
Awesome...cause that's probably about the same amount of offense I forsee for the remainder of our games...a little.

Yup. When you get a thought in your head you run with it and in some peoples mind Lamson had shown enough to be the answer.
And it was shown in a spring game...

Shrader is a good athlete but probably should have been a tight end. That’s what the SEC team thought to. Losing Tucker is bigger than people think to he was the focal point of our offense and took a lot of pressure off of Shrader. We just stink
Was Tucker that much better than Allen?

More explosive in the open field, so more upside. But otherwise I think they’re comparable.

We've had guys get skewered for leaving under far, FAR more valid reasons than he did, yet for some reason, he maintains a fan club here.

It's... suspicious.

Throwing 3 step fade balls against 3rd string corners biting on double moves had you convinced?
No. It had me convinced he could do it against the third string of a mediocre P5 team in a spring game.

The same SEC team that recruited him as a QB and had him starting games as a freshman QB?

I think we might have been better off last year using Allen a lot more than we did. There was no reason to use Tucker as much as we did for numerous reasons.

Agreed.

Exactly so he wouldn’t have helped us vs Purdue.

Well, there was that Tucker for Heisman campaign that Dino seemed really bought into.

After hearing some of Dino's interviews in the first half of last season, I'll always be convinced that was why we force fed Tucker so much. I think Dino gave him certain assurances to get him to return to school. It didn't work out so well.

Couldn’t have said it better and I have no issues with him initially force feeding Tucker to try to get a heisman. I didn’t think it was crazy if he was productive he could be in the talks. But it was obvious when that wasn’t going to happen and the production wasn’t there each game.

BC had 305 yards passing against FSU at 9.2 per attempt. Do we think BC is markedly more talented than cuse?
We might be the worst team in the ACC folks, i guess we will find out in the coming weeks if we can beat a bad ACC team?

Right. I'm not sure why you think I'm the guy who ordained Lanson as the next big thing. I've never said or implied that. When I responded "and he did it in a spring game", I meant he did it in a controlled setting against poor defense, and his performance should have been taken with a grain of salt.

I'm not saying Lamson would have been even good here, but he did have three years in our system basically and a few months at Stanford. Hard to make an assessment.

My bad I took it as "he's shown enough in the spring game"

Lamson has a canon and he is obviously an intelligent person if he was accepted a SU and Stanford. Just about everyone thinks Syracuse should have a spread pass first offense because of the dome environment.

I may be an outlier on this, but I'm a huge fan of the freeze option we used to run when we had our better teams, McPherson, Graves, McNabb, etc. I thought we had an exciting O back then, perhaps, more importantly, we had a brand. And, it gave opponents fits. However, you need a true dual option QB as all of those guys were, they could all throw well in addition to running.

It didn't hurt their NFL chances, nor the receivers either; Moore, Harrison, Hill, Gedney, Kelly, etc. all made it to the NFL. With our recruiting never going to be even Top 25, let alone higher, IMO, I think it could be a scheme that would get us back to winning more than losing, especially, against our own conference foes.

It was a productive scheme. Dino said SU was going to have the fastest show on turf, a la air raid. Now they are more ground and prevent. The right coach could install an air raid, I think Libert runs a triple option and it's working well for them.

Does it matter that Lamson is a 48% passer at Stanford?
And Duce isnt even on his new team yet he was a star at SU. Yes it matters.
