I believe that NCAA programs are going to be able to bring on another assistant coach beginning in January of 2018. Just wondering what everyone's consensus is on type of coach we should bring in? Someone dedicated to RB's, Special Teams, QB, LBs or something else entirely?

Also, I know its more than a month out but I'd imagine that the team is starting too look at possible candidates or already has someone in mind?

College football teams can hire 10th on-field assistant coach starting in 2018

"The additional position will be available effective Jan. 9, 2018. This decision will be final on April 26 at the conclusion of the Division I Board of Directors meeting.

For most, the 10th assistant coach will likely be a promotion for either a team analyst or someone working in quality control with the program.

Some of the nation's top teams -- particularly those with unlimited coffers -- may use that additional staff flexibility to take a big swing and bring on another high-priced coach or perhaps an additional top-tier recruiter."

forgot about this. swing for the fences, there's no reason to promote a GA. Go get someone looking for a job or next level promotion and make sure he can recruit.

how about a respected high school coach from a recruiting hotbed.
I like this idea. No reason not to go out and try and find someone with connections to some recruiting hotbeds. If we want to play with the big boys sometimes you need to spend like the big boys. I'd bet good money that Clemson isn't promoting a GA.

Recruiter. Lights out.
I honestly think that is the last place they would add an assistant. They just added Kramer Cook and Dave Boller. I think they have the recruiters they need.

Bring in Cal Ripken to teach players how to stay healthy all season.

Personal chef? It's an extravagant and unexpected move. During games he or she can cook up all sorts of culinary delights on the sidelines. Imagine player morale when you can literally eat beef brisket all afternoon while playing football.

Add a second coach for the secondary. Let Monroe keep the corners hire someone to coach the safties.
