I dated a guy that was a diehard Ohio State fan when SU had just hired Marrone. All he wanted to talk about was Ohio State and whenever I brought up the SU glory days and our history he gave me that exact look and said, Syracuse has a football team?!

It didn't last long, I got some nice dinners out of the deal and that was it. Before I die I want us to be ranked higher than Ohio State. Please God make it so

Mac put us ahead of PS, and probably would have stayed there. He was a good coach, a nd charismatic. Dino is the same way, players relate to his honesty, and how he cares for them.

This is the highest we have been ranked since we were 11th on that Thursday night game vs NC State in 1998. 20 years.

Was just about to come here and post the same thing. The Tennessee game and the thrashing at Michigan. I was at both. Despite the loss to the Vols, we were rolling. Then, we laid 70 on Rutgers, before what I recall as the Torry Holt game.

Looking back, you can make the argument that it was the start of a 20-year funk, a warning of things to come. Sure, we won The Big East that year, but we finished ranked 25th, below both Miami, who we destroyed in McNabb’s last game, and the Hokies, both of whom we beat that year. That’s because of two more losses, one in Morgantown and the last one, a disastrous Orange Bowl appearance against Florida.

It’s been a long, long time coming, as we come full circle to Dungey’s last Dome game.

We are the #13 Syracuse Orange. The ceiling is still higher. Let’s enjoy the ride.

My knee jerk was to agree with you but, if you look at the teams below us, is there anyone you don’t think we can beat?

This team is playing with a high level of confidence and showed me something yesterday.

Terrible start yet just took care of business and ended up winning easily despite not playing their best.

Both lines playing well. Running game better. Playmakers emerging. LBs improving. Hopefully, secondary gets healthy. Lots to like.

There's a touch of marketing to create storylines for the ND game. These guys all want something to write about on an otherwise boring week.

I disagree with this. 2 weeks ago I would have agreed, last week too, but now I look at the teams ranked behind us and I think we can beat any of them.

We have become a very good team. We went toe to toe with Clemson in Death Valley.

I expect us to give ND everything they can handle in the Bronx.
