13 in Coaches / 13 in AP

Hmmm...so in two weeks we jumped 31 spots total to get to 13 and what is 31 reversed? 13

Coincidence? Or a sign?

OK, I'm grasping here but we need all the MOJO we can get. :)

Cheers,
Neil

And the reverse of 44 is 44. I don't think it's coincidence. It's already in Syracuse's history!

Totally agree.

Enjoy it, but most likely going 1-2 down the stretch. Don’t want to, but 8-4 is a strong year and 2019 should be even better.

I don’t see how you can say most likely going 1-2. I think there is a better chance of going 2-1 than 1-2. Going to be extremely motivated for ND who will be playing with an incredible amount of pressure and BC is a toss up. It’s not like they have more talent. That’s a very winnable game

6-6

Oh they are all winnable. But we will also be dogs in at least one if not two of those games.

And 8-4 wouldn't suck. 9-3 better and OMG if 10-2. But 8-4 is not bad at all and that's not taking negative shots at the team. More like keeping my own expectations in check, not getting too high - post-Clemson/pre-Pitt) or too low (post Pitt.)

Right now we’d be favored over Louisville. The other two, we’re underdogs.

So can we get in as the 4th team with 3 more wins? Just having some fun here not trying to get too serious with this post talking about what 'help' we'd need if we win out.

Lets just talk about the top 10 teams and assume that UCF and UK we will be ahead of post ND no matter what. Lets put in #1 Bama and #2 Clemson and see how many of them we can jump. 7/8 schools we need to move ahead of.

#10 Washington St- They just need to lose 1 game and not win out. Unlikely they make it to the P12 title game with just 1 loss. 6 teams left.

#9 LSU- Our 2 losses look better after ND and how bad they were vs Bama. We edge them with voters SEC had their fun last year. 5 left.

#8 Ohio St- Lose to Michigan St. We jump them and root for them to beat UM. Will get back to this when we reach UM.

#7 WVU- This one is easy to call because even if they win the next 2 they have 2 games vs OU coming up back to back weeks. Might need to win out. Sure it would be close if they split the 2 OU games but edge us both teams with 2 wins.

#6 OU- See above probably win Bedlam but do they sweep WVU in a 2 game series road ad neutral? That Big 12 CCG game is helping my argument.

#5 UGA- Auby is good not sure why that coach catches so much heat. Might lose this week. Probably beat Tech but that game is sometimes close. Even if they are 1 loss why reward them if they lose to Bama and have a rematch looming. The point of the playoffs is to not feature the same games and Clemson-Bama rematch is already lurking with both earning it. Edge us with 2 losses.

#4 Michigan. Make it to OSU and then lose edge us. Beat OSU and lose CCG edge us. In if they win out.

#3 ND. Sadly they can lose to us and still get in before us with 1 less loss despite the H2H. But does USC knock them off in the Coliseum a week later?

I am eliminating WSU because they will lose again, the Big 12 schools assuming neither run the table (WVU and OU split) and the 2 SEC schools as they all have 2+ losses.

2 spots left for us, ND, OSU, and Michigan only one of which can have 1 loss ie 2 spots for ND, B1G winner, and us.
-USC knocks off ND we got the other spot and 1 loss B1G winner is in.
-OSU goes down to MSU but beats UM and we get in over B1G champ with ND.
-OSU/UM winner loses CCG and we get in with ND.

Any chance H2H wins out if the 4th spot is between 1 loss ND and 2 loss Cuse?

Pretty amazing that most of us pegged 6 or 7 wins and a bowl this year and we’re sitting at 7-2 right top, #13 with a legitimate shot at the top 5 if we win out.

Couldn’t be happier for the seniors and the fan base, the diehard part of it that has suffered through the past 15 years. I’m enjoying every minute of this!

I dated a guy that was a diehard Ohio State fan when SU had just hired Marrone. All he wanted to talk about was Ohio State and whenever I brought up the SU glory days and our history he gave me that exact look and said, Syracuse has a football team?!

It didn't last long, I got some nice dinners out of the deal and that was it. Before I die I want us to be ranked higher than Ohio State. Please God make it so
You should have pulled the old “remember what we did to you guys in the Hall Of Fame Bowl?” out of your pocket.

Eh sounds like this chap was too young to remember the 90s. Should go with older men.

SU starts with McKinnley's #98 and is now TD's #13.

I know people are more upset over the Pitt loss but do you all realize that if SU beat Clemson and then BC did SU would have have been playing for the ACC title with a win over BC and then vs......yes...Pitt?

when you look at the some of the teams ranked below us its clear they have a much better sos than we do . i am not sure how they come to the conclusion we are 13th

We will beat Lville. Then my hope is to at least split those last 2 games. Not just to say we got 9 wins but I don’t want to finish the regular season with 2 straight loses.
I want to win out, Notre Dame because they Stole a victory in 61, and BC because they lied and stole our spot in 2003.

SOS is so arbitrary though..

if we beat UL/ND/BC then people not computers have to decide if us beating ND is better than LSU over GA.
A&M game is huge

Auburn could easily beat GA too.

OK st taking out WV or Ok would be huge

OSU is not good. MSU could help there

all of this also opens up UCF talk though

you have to think beating ND trumps Kent

I find this curious. Syracuse is ranked #44 in Sagarin with 2 losses and a game against a top 10 and a top 30. Just glancing at the teams, how can Boise be ranked ahead of us at #38 with 2 losses and Duke at #37 with 3 losses when neither have played a game against a team in the top 30. And Georgia Tech is #39 with 4 losses and has only played one team in the top 30 which is a top 10 opponent.

Just realized this info was also posted in the espn fpi thread. Still doesn't make sense to me. I know the ACC is down but a few of those teams are ACC teams ahead of us. So apparently the Coastal is stronger than the Atlantic?
