13 Teams Left in Playoff Contention

I’ll take my chances of getting wrecked by BAMA. Everyone else is so why not CUSE? Just to make it there, that’s something you can recruit off. Tell the kids your going to play BAMA next year in the CFP and you need x kid to help beat them.

Don’t tell me that isn’t some kids dreams out there.

I’d love to see us beat ND, but we’ll have to score 50 to do it. Their O-Line will open up holes that I could run through & Book’s accuracy will expose our secondary. We have to pressure him into mistakes & we can’t afford any in order to stay in the game. It should be entertaining!!!

WOw reading a playoff article in SI right now and SI considers us Notre Dame’s most likely loss remaining on the schedule...

Their other two games are vs FSU and at USC

No. We do want to make the CFB playoff.

Alabama might boat race everyone they play but I'd rather find out than not.
99.9% of the time I agree. Here is the exception our return on the national stage shouldn’t be a game we will be. Close to 40 point underdog.

IDK. Washington took some heat losing to Bama 24-7 but that game was close. Does anyone remember Bama beating Michigan State 38-0 or Clemson beating Ohio State 31-0? Heck Ohio State beat Oregon in the Title game 42-20 and Oregon thumped FSU in the semi the weekend before 59-20. (59-20 !! )

I'll take a 59-20 beating in the semifinal of the playoff. The cash windfall and recruiting injection would be worth it.

Honestly we don’t want to make the CFB playoffs

But you still get to say that you made the CFP, something that only a small handful of teams have accomplished. It's like, I would rather lose by 50 in a Dayton play-in game than win the NIT.

Wonder who that twitter feed is. It’s not anything official I don’t think.

They have 72 followers, but the tweet has over 1,000 likes.

Must be because our name is on there. Word gets around.

4 way tie h2h NC state would be 1-2, clem 2-1, SU 2-1, BC 1-2. so then clemson wins..

It's starting to sound like the other division is such a mess that if we beat BC, we might play Clemson in the ACC championship game. Am I on crack right now? Is that possible?

If they took Tua out in the 3rd Q that is the best case. If Bama wanted a Clemson-Louisville score they could do it to almost anyone. Saban calls the dogs off because he doesn’t want media attention for it.
You do know Clemson has played more players this year than pretty much everyone right?

Think about that for a moment.

This is a sign that we are just about back.

I agree here but what if we made the Russian bleed? This would be a story for the ages. A 21-17 game at half would be so incredible no matter what happened.

If we had beaten Pitt, we would have a higher chance to make it to CFP.

Syracuse has a REAL shot here. Michigan still plays Ohio state. So one of them is going to get at least lose one more.

West Virginia plays Oklahoma so one of them is guaranteed another loss.

Can’t put NC State in over us, we played same opponents but beat them.

If we win out, they won’t put Notre Dame in over us or Boston College.

Washington State plays a tough game against Washington.

Ohio State has a tough one this weekend against Michigan State.

Alabama, Clemson and Georgia are likely locks.

The path is there. Need a little luck and to WIN

Georgia loses to Alabama and another game, then they will have three losses.

4 teams hardly constitutes a real playoff. In my view, at minimum, it should be 8 teams, 16 ideal.
Problem is adding more game in a season to a sport known for its brutality and injuries. I think after the current contract ends it goes to 8, but after that I don't see it expanding more. With 8 the champs of the P5 can all automatically qualify and the top ranked G5 team can automatically qualify. Then you have three at large bids. That would make everyone happy.

I know FCS has a larger playoff, but their athletes are also not as good. I don't think the physical toll on FCS players is as bad as FBS players.

Honestly we don’t want to make the CFB playoffs and then get boat raced. by Alabama by them naming the score.
I just want 10-2 and a NY6 bowl. Clemson and Michigan are the ones with a chance against Bama.

What? I wouldn't care if we lost 100-0., we are in the playoffs! Plus, I don't think we get boatraced.

No idea where everyone is getting that Notre Dames offensive line is so good.

Will say it again, their center has 36 starts in his career. The rest of the line combined has less than 30 starts and they aren't as good as you think they are. Our entire DL and backups can easily play with them.

Did you watch the Northwestern game? They didnt open holes on them (121 yds rushing) and our DL is better, why would you think they could open holes on us?

Their defense is built for a B10 type schedule and their LBs and safeties will have trouble checking nykeim and riley, mark my words.

  • What's all this concern about boat racing? I'm talking college football here.
  • As much as former AD Gross jumped the gun on the topic, we are now part of the "National Conversation." Wow.
  • And although we are a glorious 7-2 we could just as easily be 9-0 or 5-4. I'll take 7-2.
  • And as powerful as ND is, things could go south for them. Can't believe their athletic dept. opted for a late season away game when they could've played in the cozy confines of ND Stadium. I know it's to appease the NYC area alumni, but they probably factored in a lowly Syracuse team. SUrprise!
  • Well I'm out of bullet points.
