14/50 - 28%

There’s no offense, just take advantage of what they can’t guard .

Houston had a big part of that but we had many open looks. Bad shots like Jessie shooting from the fouls line after a great D possession or Joe forcing shots. Buddy was shut down no doubt but the rest of the team didn’t capitalize on opportunities. Nice run though

Well that was hugely disappointing. Nothing to cheer about all night. The only bright spot was Edwards' play. Offers hope for next year. Houston shot only 38% and that was padded by some breakaway dunks late. Only 27% from 3. It was low 30's. So our D was actually pretty good. But we just couldn't score which was what we saw many times this season until this late run.

Hard to win when you can’t crack 30% shooting.

Hats off to Houston’s D but we also didn’t show up tonight.
All of the Sweet 16 teams shot the ball poorly today. I think Andy Katz said the eight teams were a combined 22 percent from 3 today. Yikes.

Our lack of offense is endemic at this point.
We were 17th in the country in offensive efficiency coming into the game, and I believe top 10 over the past month or so. Yes, we were very bad on offense *today*, but the facts don’t back up what you’re asserting at all. Houston is an incredibly tough defensive team and we struggled to get into any kind of sustained offensive rhythm.

Unfortunately thats the kind of stuff that can happen when you don't run an offense.
And don’t have the skill or athleticism to create. We can score against bad and mediocre D’s. But most good or great D’s will hinder us.

You have to wonder if the bubble had anything to do with it. It took a toll on NBA players last year.

it absolutely could be. Not sleeping on your own bed for a week. It’s a weird deal

I mean nothing revolutionary about that. By definition great ds will hinder teams. We also played pretty good ones the first two games.

PLEASE...stop congratulating the Houston D. We just had our heads up our a**es when shooting tonight. How many bunnies diid we miss. Has zero to do with defense. How many turnovers on errant passes turned into points! We deserved to lose tonight but it was not Houston's D!

Houstons D on Buddy was a major part of the game. Sorry.

Of Houston's 29 non-SU opponents this year, only Our Lady of the Lake and Cincinnati shot worse from the field against Houston than we did today.

Eight teams played today and none of them shot well, especially from outside. It stands to reason that a team facing the #2 defense according to KenPom would struggle the most.

Wow! If you don’t think their D had anything to do with those errant passes I don’t know what to tell ya.

I think it was as simple as it looked. Houstons D deserves a lot of credit. This team doesn't have a superior low post threat. Not even to dish to which is entirely different. We were a step slow at the drive at 2-3 positions and lack the half-court transition and physicality to attack the rim hard. Because of that, coming from behind was not our strong suit unless we started raining 3. We really needed to knock down shots. They doubled today, and we got some nice looks and that is about all we could ask for but to no advantage. We really could of used a 2nd year Jeremy Grant tonight.
