I don't know what time today... still waiting for an answer... but supposedly the first 20 minutes will be open to the media and players and coordinators are suppose to be available to the media also.

First Syracuse spring football media opportunity with coordinators and players this evening. What are you curious about?

Here is an opportunity for you to get a question asked.

Some quick observations from the 20 minutes of open practice today...

Terrel Hunt looked fully healthy. Took some snaps with Rob Trudo and worked with the first team in the limited 11-on-0s.

Kendall Moore did blocking drills with the offensive line and took some snaps. He's played OL before, but worked primarily at TE in 2014.

Others notables who ran with the 1s: Ashton Broyld, Trey Dunkelberger, Steve Ishmael, Jamar McGloster.

Ivan Foy and Omari Palmer joined in after those 11-on-0s. Michael Lasker, Aaron Roberts, Nick Robinson and Trudo (C) worked w/ McGloster.

Expect the announcement of a couple walk-ons later today, including a running back (24).

Broyld and Erv Philips, who ran with the 2s in 11-on-0s, did positional drills with TEs. Plays into the idea of multiplicity.

AJ Long held on field goals with the first unit. Sophomore K Cole Murphy made a couple chip shots.

Think that's about it. Shafer, coordinators and players will be available after 6. Observations post coming with video.

I really hope Trudo is able to take over the center position. With him at C it will allow us to get the 5 best guys out there, and should form a solid interior OL. Obviously the biggest question mark is RT. With McGolster working with the 1's, i'm not sure if that's a good, or a bad thing? Last year he didn't look anywhere near ready. I'm sure we were all hoping Ward would win the job, so it will be interesting to see how his progress goes this Spring. Another option, although not ideal, could be to move Palmer to RT, and Hayes at G. Palmer doesn't have the size for RT, but I liked what I saw from Hayes last year. It's too bad Lasker has been a total bust, he seemed to have all the physical tools to start at tackle.

Speaking of Tackle, I hope Bailey can give us an update on Kendal Moore, and if he has bulked up anywhere near enough to be considered a contender for RT? I really wish they just moved him there last year.

Erv and Broyld on the 2s. Hmmm...

Shafer: DT Marcus Coleman's career is likely over due to repeated foot injuries. He tried to go this spring, but was unable.

Ron Thompson is playing DE. Chris Slayton is playing DT.

Sucks that Coleman is done.. liked his potential. Best of luck to him in the future.

Very interested to see what McGloster looks like. Staff might be rewarding hardwork in offseason or motivating Ward/Moore

Slayton as DT is interesting also. Very thin at DE. Arcenegia helps but still not much depth.

This Slayton to DT development has me flabbergasted.
EDIT: in a good way.

Terrel Hunt said he thinks playing Rob Trudo at C allows the OL to play its best 5 guys. Others would be Foy, Palmer, Robinson, McGloster.

Tim Lester said TEs Trey Dunkelberger and Josh Parris are the two guys from 12 personnel. Cam MacPherson also doing well as third option.

Lester: Ben Lewis is working with Ashton Broyld and Erv Philips in that hybrid back role. Brisly Estime will line up out wide and in slot.

Terrel Hunt said his goals for this year include proving he can be a pocket QB with running ability, like Seattle Seahawks' Russell Wilson

Lester said the goal is to install about 50% of the offense this spring, roughly 15-20 plays with variances.

Syracuse DL coach Tim Daoust declined to comment about the possibility of him joining Pat Narduzzi's staff at Pitt this winter.

Terrel Hunt said his leg still feels sore sometimes when he runs, but that it's nothing he can't push through. Expects healing to continue.

I thought McGloster was coming on toward the end of last year. If there's one thing I've learned over the years about OL, it's unpredictable. McGloster was the total BLister from NJ who I'm not even sure ever played football before.

Anyone remember Phil Bogle ?

I'd like to see Emerich win the job at center, however id like to see Palmer, Roberts or Hayes perform so well that it pushes Trudo to center.

Terrel Hunt just spoke with reporters for the first time since before his season-ending injury last year.

Terrel Hunt: “It was frustrating. But I had to put my ego aside and help out the younger guys, help out Coach and do as much as I could.”

Phil D'Abbraccio ‏@PhilDAbb now
Hunt said leg feels good. "It’s kind of sore when I run, but other than that I could push through it. When I’m out there I really zone out.”
