1) the tempo if it really is faster paced means a bunch more plays, how to they plan on controlling the QBs since there is still a limit on how many throws you want them to make so they dont get dead arms.

2) good to see in the WR clips kids getting the footwork corrected early on, we had lots of issues with routes and hand placement the last few years, lets hope that we see less of that and more good plays from that position so they can get off the line and get down the field.

Breaks between practices. Like anything you build towards it by reps over time.

No precedence for BG, Baylor, Oregon etc - think dead arm is a non-issue.

I wish we could fast forward 3 years from now. I cant wait for the future of this program

The one counter argument to that sentiment is that we don't have to be OPTIMIZED for this offense to be successful. I agree that it will take 3 years or so to recruit players ideally suited for this offense, for the team to learn the system perfectly, etc. But I believe that Babers can be successful even before then as we build. I like what we're seeing so far.

Why miss the adventure and fun of getting there?
oh I agree. I am just dreaming of this thing taking off like a rocket ship and where we COULD be in 3 years is very exciting

I agree completely. I was referring more to the recruiting part which you noted. Get more pieces to this puzzle

100% agree. Plus I think the former staff was not capable of utilizing the talent on the roster. Even with some of their mistakes and all the injuries, we weren't that far from a bowl game.

Agreed. As absurd as that last sentence sounds, think about it: we were a bad call away in the Virginia game [not the pass interference, but the indefensible incomplete pass that turned into a fumble returned for a TD] from winning that game, and a 4th and 10 conversion against Pitt from having a chance to qualify for bowl eligiblity. Coulda, shoulda, woulda--but this team was an eyelash away from a bowl game, even with all of the inhibiting factors NKR mentions above.

our qbs complained about dead arms the last couple of years and probably will throw much more now. baseball limits throws and football teams often do to.

I was just thinking more that do we have enough qb's to handle the reps he wants to get done. but since BG only had 4-5 on the roster last year maybe its a non issue here.

Yep, but what if we did make a bowl? Would Babers be here?

1. It was practice number one
2. We saw the first 10 minutes of practice
We have no clue what else they did with the QB's. I'm sure HCDB and Sean Lewis know how to handle QBs and the amount they throw

No he wouldn't!

Put that one in the short term pain long term gain column.
Come to think of it losing a season to dome renovation would also fall under that column.

We are taking our medicine and see I healthy program in our future!!!

i will check back on this in late august----i do not want here any reports until then--just my bias----no koolaid, no bs, no nothing, is perfect picture for me ---not being an ass, just cautious, without expectation

Since it's the optimistic thread, I can add what happens if we don't get that stupid late hit penalty against USF. Maybe the wheels don't fall off that bus.

I've spent enough time in pessimistic threads noting how certain teams blew the doors off us, how CMU had any # of chances to win and how BC could have won if their QB threw with the other arm.

Optimism wins with Dino.

1 - Let me get this straight, you got that there might be an issue with "dead arms" from our QB's from 1 practice

2 - You surmised from one practice that our WR's run better routes and have better hand placement from one practice.

Gotcha, wondering why you aren't coaching this team's QB's and WR's.

interesting since i didnt say either of those things,

1) we had issues the last 2 years with a lack of qbs and the ones that were left complaining about dead arms since they had to make too make throws during practices.. coaches made those same comments and that they had to ration the play calling reps. this offense runs much faster and Coach has said they will get many more reps in during a practice because of increase in pace.. these Qbs have gone from a practice routine to a new one that likely means even more throws and since throwing is the basis of most of what is new in this offense I wondered if we might have this issue as well even more now.

2) I said we had issues with route running and hand/feet issues in getting off the line the last few years. I noticed them correcting the feet in the video and much like baseball the key to getting off the line is starting off with the right foot and putting your hands in the proper starting position to get past the press coverage. More reps might well mean better fundamentals an hopefully better production from the WR.
