2001 Miami Hurricanes

Miami really should have won 3 straight titles in the early 2000s. Only winning one was a horrible underachievement. They were the best team in the country in 2000. They lost an early game at Washington which had them playing catchup in the polls all year. FSU got voted #2 to play Oklahoma even though they lost to Miami. There is no doubt in my mind that UM beats OU by at least 10 points. And in 2002, that was one of the biggest upsets in CFB history. Ohio State had a nice team that year but they weren't close to UM in terms of talent. UM probably wins that game 9 out of 10 times.

Miami won that 2002 championship. The refs hosed them something fierce. I guess you can argue they shouldn't have let it be that close, but they made a play, the game was over, and then came a flag...

I really miss Miami being awesome. They were as fun of a program to hate as there's ever been in college football. It sucks how mediocre they are these days.

I'm biased of course but 2004 and 2005 USC has to be in the conversation. I believe Miami played Washington either before or after us and completely destroyed and shut them out as well. I was at that Orange Bowl game when we got crushed.

* Igor claimed on the board that week that Cuse had more talent than Miami, and hyped up RJ Anderson as a bigtime NFL prospect.

I believe that "three touchdowns better than Miami" was exactly what Igor said.

And, according to him at the time, it was all on P that we lost.

what he said was that at some point in the game the broadcast crew would be talking about the talent gap between the two teams. He was sort of right but not in the way he meant.

Look at what that 2001 Miami team did at home that year.
Rutgers 61-0
Troy State 38-7
West Virginia 45-3
Temple 38-0
#14 Syracuse 59-0
#12 Washington 65-7

306-17 at home.

Pretty sure he wrote three touchdowns...I told him to put his money where his mouth was and give me Miami and 21 points for $100 and his response was that he wanted to fight...

Fun day on the board...

I remember going into the game, I just wanted to have a chance going into the 4th quarter, never in my wildest dreams did I think we could win, nor did I see 59-0, but that was an all time great team.

The game was supposed to be played the weekend after 9/11, and got postponed until I believe the first weekend in December. That was a really good UW team, and it looked like a high school team playing that day.

That is just sick when their back field was Clinton Portis, then Willis McGahee and just FO giggles third string Frank Gore..

Oh, it gets funnier. Their 4th-string RB was just Walter Payton's son Jarrett, the '04 Orange Bowl MVP who had a stint in the NFL. Let's also not forget that these guys were lining up in the I-Formation behind Nahjee Davenport, one of the NFL's best FBs over his decade long career.
