2015 NFL season general discussion thread

I missed that post. All I could see was everything about the Bengal fiasco. Check down Charlie is wayy too funny though! I had myself almost talked into KC until the last couple of posts.

Interesting to hear about Manning. I trust your right. He should be as healthy as he has been all year. I expect that to be a hard hitting game.
I have to give credit where it's due, I took "check down Charlie" from Shannon Sharpe. Man that guy is pure gold to listen to. Him talking about Joey Porter today was great. He said, "Now I don't know what Joey Porter got his degree in, but I'm almost positive it wasn't as a neurologist." Basically blasting him for being on the field and staying on after Brown got carried off. And how it was all a plan of Porters, but how the Bengal players fell for it, hook line and sinker.

He could have benched Burfict, Burfict was trying to injure players, at some point you can't allow that to go on.

I just can't see any world in which you bench probably your best or 2nd best player at the time that you need him most, especially after he literally just got done making the interception that should have sealed the game in the first place. If Marvin benches him and the Steelers go down the field and score, it would be questioned the way Carroll is questioned for throwing the ball at the goal line.

The Steelers coaches(Porter and Munchak) still aren't over their playing days...

They are punks.

Seems that way for Porter at least. He's loved around Denver for his playing days at CSU, but I've never been a fan. And maybe he gets it from his hc. I liked Tomlin up until the last Denver game against the Steelers. When they won he got all riled up pounding his chest and pointing straight into the camera. I really want redemption Sunday..

Pittsburgh has a top 5 rush defense. They should be able to slow down the Denver running game. Pittsburgh is screwed because Big Ben hurt his right shoulder. If he can throw then the game because a lot more competitive. Brown is fine and going to play. Pittsburgh has enough offense if Ben is healthy as DeAngelo Williams should be back this game. If Pittsburgh run D plays to there level and they force Manning to beat them they have a chance. Manning again was the worst qualified QB this year. For the sake of the Super Bowl being competitive I can't see him playing 2 good games in a row when he hasn't done that all season long. This foot issue was such a joke ginned up to save the guy his dignity. Drew Brees had the same injury and played week 17 leading the Saints to win at Atlanta. Both guys are old. Kubiak wanted to find a reason to turn to Osweiler.

Denver has way more upside with Osweiler than they do Manning. They can't run Kubiak's offense with Manning as they have to pistol/shotgun every down and that takes away the stretch run and bootleg that Kubiak wants.

Brown showed he can beat Harris one on one the last game. Bryant will probably be shut down by Talib and that leaves Wheaton vs. Roby.

KC without Maclin will need Brady to turn the ball over to win. NE has a decent enough run D especially with Hightower/Collins. The Pats will put a safety over the opponent's top option to force the QB to beat them elsewhere. With Maclin hurt they will focus on Kelce. Jamaal Charles is the biggest missing weapon here as he torched NE last year in the passing game and zone read. West isn't the same athlete as Charles.

KC has a puncher's chance. I just think with Edelman/Amendola/Gronk Br ady will have guys who can get open fast and he won't have to hold the ball. I do the winner of KC/NE wins the AFC. Pittsburgh honest to goodness would scare me more coming to NE than NE having to play at Denver.

So Brady with no evidence was suspended 4 games for an alleged first offense.
Burfict is a multiple time offender and just got 3 games. The NFL is such a joke.

Please please please stop comparing everything that happens in the NFL to Tom Brady. It's beyond obsessive at this point.

D. Williams last time against Denver up in Pittsburgh 14 carries 26 yds. Good for 1.9/carry
It sure is funny to me the same people that want to call out all the deflate gate bell ringers because they say it's bs, come with bs of their own. It's comical or agenda driven just the same, for people that don't think Manning's foot issue was real. Yeah a HOF qb and ultimate competitor would just skip practicing at all, let alone with his teammates completely, and go along with some ploy to insert a backup qb to try out for a while is beyond reality. And then somebody trying to play internet doctor, of so and so played with the same injury, blah blah, look like fools. But a doctor on the plantar issue that I listened to, went into great detail on why a fully torn fascia is a lot better to play on then a partial tear, and then I found this;

Plantar fascia tears can vary in severity and in location. Denver Broncosquarterback Peyton Manning has been sidelined for more than a month with a partially torn plantar fascia. However, Manning's brother Eli didn't miss a game after he suffered a full tear of the plantar fascia in 2009. Typically, the pain becomes more manageable when the plantar fascia is fully torn.

Brees said he wasn't quite sure how to describe whether his injury was a full or partial tear.

"From everyone I've spoken to, mine seems to be a bit different than others that I've heard," Brees said. "This is all kind of a learning thing for me. I just know the way it feels right now and what I'm gonna have to do between now and game day to get myself ready to play."

And yeah an old vet qb like Kubiak and a head coach who's sole job is to win games, would bring Manning dignity. For somebody to even contemplate writing that is on a new drug. Denver having more upside with Brock than a healthy Manning, that's some real football knowledge right there. Obviously ball security is the #1, #2 most important thing period in the playoffs. Kubiak obviously must trust that Manning's not going to throw 3 picks. I guess that part remains to be seen, but the reason he has to trust that is what Manning will not do is because of the most important thing to do besides that. And that's making the correct read of the defense pre and post snap, and being able to audible and get his team into the right play. If Manning drank a 12 pack he'd do that better than Brock. It's exactly what he did when he went into the SD game and won it.

And as for somebody not watching the actual games and just spewing out whatever comes to mind, Manning ran Kubiak's offense against SD. He was in shotgun 12 times and UNDER CENTER 10 times. He "managed" the game, and Kubiak as well as Dennison have stated in the last week and today, that there's no restrictions on Kubiaks offense what so ever with Manning under center, and said it would throw off the entire balance of what the team has been working towards and has the feel for now to not run it 100%.

And yes, Kubiaks O has many plays for shotgun as well as pistol and under center. The reports by people that have blasted Manning before and who go to every practice, said today that Manning ran everything and looked great doing it all. Wow who would've known? Get time to heal at 39 and you look better! That's not to say I think he can't , but there's not a doubt in almost everybody's minds (pundits and ex players and current) you must go with Manning at this point, because he's the Broncos best option for the playoffs until he isn't.

And who can't Brown beat 1 on 1?? The part about that is that you don't play man when your starting 2 safeties are out. Wade tried it anyways and got burned. That's why you try things in the regular season and correct them come playoff time. After that game they mixed in zone and it put them on another level. At least one of our safeties will be back in Ward, it won't be close to the same back there. And Harris had his worst game since high school and will never play like that again until he's old. He can't wait for the matchup again.

And people wonder why their hated.
If I am hated by you consider me really hurt.
You defend Peyton Manning just as much I defend Tom Brady. The only difference is the board is full of Bills fans who hate the Patriots.
Peyton Manning was awful this year plain and simple. Brock Osweiler was not awful this year. The fact you bring up ball security is laughable. Peyton Manning led the National Football League in Interceptions and only played in 10.5 games. He missed 5 games and still threw the most INTs in the league but yeah he is good for ball security.

Brady wasn't suspended at all. I know what you mean, but get over it.

Yeah I just hate the NFL for destroying a guy when nothing honestly happened. I apologize for my annoyance on that. When the NFL front office comes to mind I just lose my composure. It will dissipate over time but the anger is still there now.

Denver is beating Pittsburgh this week. It will come down to KC/NE @ Denver the following week.

I believe what you mean to say is that the courts said the punishment for what was alleged to have happened was too severe and out of line with prior punishments, etc

They did not say anything about schemes to deflate footballs, to my knowledge.

All we know is a grown man decided, on the way to drop off the balls to the field, that he needed to bring them into the John with him (probably for ball security, hee hee)

I'm assuming the NFL has more evidence etc than we're all knowing.

It doesn't matter, nobody cares about DeflateGate other than the engrained pattern already established.

But I don't think it's right to say that honestly nothing happened.

Technically, I don't even think that's what the judge ruled; he just ruled that the NFL didn't follow the appeal process correctly. Had they followed their own rules, Brady's suspension likely would have stood (or he would have been suspended for some amount of games).

The judge knew he couldn't make a judgement based on the actual penalities so he made it about the process. If you followed the case though the judge didn't like the NFL's logic for the suspension or their answers to why they did what they did. Berman wrote that decision so it wouldn't be easily overturned, If he talked about anything but the process it would easily be overturned.

Berman used the fact that the NFL didn't make General Council Jeffrey Pash available as a witness at the appeal hearing a key part of his decision even though it is very likely Pash wouldn't even had said anything to make Goodell overturn his own decision. Goodell should have recused himself as the arbitrator but he didn't want to do that because the evidence wasn't on his side.
The entire Deflategate process was the NFL owners wanting more penalties after Spygate. If the NFL really cared about PSI they would have wrote down the PSI levels before the game and had actual evidence. The case was not there in this incident. Brady took the hits for the NFL wanting Belichick.

I was responding to pats fans wondering why their team is hated, otherwise I would've probably used "they're", but whatever that's actually a little more funny.

Don't even put me in your obsession of Brady, we aren't even on the same planet when it comes to that. And I only defend Manning when someone makes up some bs and runs with it like it's gospel and looks at a box score and draws their conclusions from it instead of actually paying attention to games. He's not close to my favorite qb of all time, he only recently became a Bronco. I think I'm pretty much on my own in defending the Broncos and Manning and haven't seen many at all let alone many Bills fans going at the pats that often on here, so I don't know where you get that from.

Yeah keep up with what happened earlier in the year, because everyone knows how similar the playoffs are to the regular season especially when a guy is playing HURT vs a guy being healthy. Get it yet? And I explained in detail about Manning and his picks. I can be as objective as anyone on here. Who said he played great in the regular season outside of 2 games? Na, it's all just a ploy to get a backup some reps. I just try and straighten out people throwing out some bs or what they hear in the press and run with it and not digging any deeper. That last post you made about Manning and the Broncos was just some baseless bs you pulled out of your ass for an agenda, it was one of the worst I've seen in a while and that's really saying something.
What I hate is someone who complains non stop about how their "man" got robbed and accusations are baseless, but then turn around and purposely do the exact thing you're complaining about to another player!! That's some weird shyt.

Now I would love to just be on here talking about the playoffs, etc. and not having people read stupid back and forths between posters.

I am pretty objective in what I say/think I am just thin skinned about the BS that occured and hate the NFL management council right now and will not give them a break for a long time.
I do think all 4 home teams win this weekend.
If I had to rank road teams with a chance to win this weekend.
1. Seattle- they have the best chance of any road team. SEA-CAR games tend to be low scoring last couple of minute 1 score games.
2. Kansas City- they have a puncher's chance if the DL forces turnovers
3. Pittsburgh- they have a puncher's chance if they shut down the Denver run game.
4. Green Bay- I really don't think they have a chance unless their OL is drastically better than the last time these teams played. I don't see the GB D shutting down Arizona O.

So someone correct me if I'm wrong, but the only posters who have a dog left in the fight is Pats, Broncos, maybe Steelers? I can't believe there isn't any Carolina fans on here since that's Syracuse south, but maybe people already had their team when they moved down there?

I live in Charlotte and around Panthers fans. They are kinda like Clemson fans this year. They know they are good but they haven't been favorites before.

Well, that begs the question as to why the owners wanted another pound of flesh over SpyGate, an issue that was theoretically done with years ago? I guess the theory would be that the issue was bigger than they penalty administered, in which case how big was it? What don't we know? Seems like that ESPN expose mid-2015 probably was directionally correct.

Anyway, I think the Pro Sports economic model might be in trouble so those folks better be careful

That is one fan base that I don't hear anything about. I have a good friend that's a native of Denver and a huge Bronco fan that moved there a few years ago. I'll have to hit him up and see what he thinks. It's fun being in an environment where that cities team has a shot.

It's so great... Pats fans know every single title they have is tainted so they spend every waking moment trying to prove that they're not.

Makes me smile every time.
