2016 and 2018 tourneys

I know this will sound blasphemous to some, but I honestly believe that long-term the NCAA hurt us more than helped us by letting us in those tournaments.

The 2016 squad was legit.
The suspension screwed that team.
I wouldn’t say that the NCAA did us any favors we deserved to be in the tournament and that team earned it’s final four.

The 2018 squad was death to watch but again not blaming the kids nor regret the run.

I just want the HC to adapt to 2021 basketball and stop being rinse repeat wash.

I know we went 4-5 with Hopkins in that 9 game stretch, but how many countless similar stretches have we had with JB as the coach over the past 7 years?

right - even if we had missed those tourneys, it's not like the staff has any sort of accountability. JB is like a SCOTUS judge.

Creating a smoke and mirrors illusion that SU basketball was back to being itself when in reality we remain a hollowed out shell of ourselves. This program needs a total rebuild and in my opinion those runs just prolonged the inevitable.

But do you think that last couple of years would have unfolded differently? If so, how?

Obviously I have no way of knowing for sure, but I think the chances of JB retiring would have been much higher had we missed the tourney three straight years 2015-2017.

The 2016 team just needed a solid center + JB to not get suspended. Our talent and player development has gotten a lot worse since then
