Syracuse head coach Dino Babers said he’s open to his players walking on to the SU basketball team (Trishton Jackson and Taj Harris are interested), but they need to handle other responsibilities first. No official decisions have been made.

Babers said this is the best offseason of S&C this team has had during his time in Syracuse. Physical development will be clear on the field.

Interesting: Babers said Antwan Cordy came to him and said he didn’t want to play slot receiver. “We don’t make guys play positions they don’t want to play.”

Babers said he expects Eric Dungey and Tommy DeVito to compete this fall. No strong statements one way or another. Said Tommy has looked good enough to earn an opportunity in practice.

Babers has a lot of confidence in his defensive backs. “I think that secondary will embarrass (the receivers in camp).”

Babers said WR Devin Butler needs to be more consistent to make the jump to the No. 1 guy in the offense. Nothing specific, but said Butler knows the message he’s sending.

Nice to see Whitner step into Zaire’s vacancy. He’s an equally intelligent and impressive kid from what I’ve gotten to know. Lets see what he has on the field though. Was always surprised he stuck at LB, always thought he was a db

Dino has alot of respect for KW, allowing Him an opportunity to speak publically on day 1.. great to see, as KW has been a trooper changing positions respectfully and has basically been cuses version of mother theresa off the field while killing it academically . Just such a special kid. What he has done thus far on the hill cannot, in any way be quantified. Just amazing. Go KW.

The only reason to use a microphone is if the room isn't big enough for the questionee to hear reporters speak. To provide audio for the listeners at home, they'd need to have audio from one microphone going into a pool feed. It would take time, effort, and more money than Cuse likely cares to spend to make this happen, especially for a 15 minute press conference.
